Moving from India to Pakistan is a relocation between immediate neighbours, yet it is a corridor unlike any other from India. Despite a shared border running thousands of kilometres, direct freight links are limited and the route is shaped by bilateral trade and customs arrangements that change from time to time. Seemleius approaches the India–Pakistan move with realism: it is a specialised corridor, and getting the routing and documentation right is everything.
The move begins in India with disciplined export handling and ends with customs clearance under Pakistan Customs. Because direct connectivity is constrained, much of this corridor moves by sea via the natural transhipment hubs of the Gulf, and we are candid from the first conversation about transit times, routing options and what the current arrangements permit.
Freight routes and customs
The India end starts with export clearance through ICEGATE: a shipping bill filed under the Customs Act, AD code registration at the originating port, and packing to export standard. Sea freight departs Nhava Sheva (JNPT), Mundra or other west-coast ports. Rather than direct sailings, shipments are most commonly routed via a Gulf transhipment hub — such as Jebel Ali in the UAE — before reaching Karachi’s ports: Karachi Port and Port Qasim, which together handle the bulk of the country’s trade. Overall transit including transhipment is typically in the range of 15 to 30 days depending on the connection.
Air freight runs from Mumbai (BOM), Delhi (DEL) or other Indian gateways, usually connecting through a Gulf hub into Jinnah International Airport (KHI) in Karachi, Allama Iqbal International Airport (LHE) in Lahore or Islamabad International Airport (ISB), with total journey times around 8 to 16 hours including connections. Pakistan Customs administers import clearance; used household effects accompanying a genuine change of residence are assessed under transfer-of-residence and personal-baggage provisions, and we confirm the documentation and duty position before anything is dispatched.
Indian export clearance
Shipping bill filed on ICEGATE, AD code registration and FEMA-aware documentation managed at Nhava Sheva or Mundra — so the shipment leaves India correctly.
Transhipment routing
With direct links limited, we route via a Gulf hub such as Jebel Ali to Karachi and confirm the connection and current arrangements in advance.
Sea and air options
Sea via Karachi Port or Port Qasim for household and commercial volumes; air via Karachi, Lahore or Islamabad when the timeline demands it.
One coordinator, both ends
The same person manages your India packing survey, ICEGATE documentation, dispatch and Pakistan clearance — no handover gaps across the corridor.
Who moves on this corridor
The India–Pakistan route is a specialised one. Household movers include families relocating across the border, often in connection with marriage, repatriation or long-term resettlement. Business and office relocations are limited but arise where commercial or institutional arrangements permit. Commercial freight moves within the framework of bilateral trade rules, and we advise on what is currently feasible. Every move on this corridor is planned individually around the prevailing arrangements.
