Household & Personal Effects
Household and personal effects shipped from India to destinations worldwide — export-standard packing, shipping-bill customs and door-to-door delivery.
Shipping your home’s contents from India to another country is a different undertaking from a domestic move. The packing standard is higher, the documentation is more complex, and the goods will spend weeks in transit. For most families it is also deeply personal — the sofa from the living room, the children’s belongings, items that cannot simply be replaced at the other end. Seemleius household and personal effects relocation from India is built around both the logistics and the human reality of that shipment.
We run household exports from Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kochi and other Indian cities, routing through the sea or air gateway that best suits your destination and volume.
What moves in a household shipment
A typical outbound household shipment from India covers a broad range of goods, and each category needs handling differently:
- Furniture — dismantled, wrapped and protected for the sea or air journey, reassembled at the destination
- Fragile items — glassware, crockery, mirrors and artwork cushioned and crated against transit handling
- Electronics and appliances — packed for long-haul conditions and humidity in sea freight containers
- Clothing, books, kitchen goods and everyday personal effects
- Family heirlooms, religious items and keepsakes that require care and appropriate documentation
The Indian export process
Every household shipment leaving India must go through Indian customs under the export shipping-bill process. We handle this alongside the physical move:
Shipping-bill preparation
We prepare and file the export shipping bill with Indian Customs, working through a licensed Customs House Agent where required.
Restricted goods guidance
Certain items — antiques, jewellery above declared limits, currency — have specific export rules. We identify these early and advise you.
Sea or air gateway
Nhava Sheva / JNPT and Mundra for sea freight; BOM, DEL, BLR and MAA for air — selected for your destination and cargo size.
Destination import customs
Import clearance at the country of arrival managed through our partner network, with duties and requirements communicated in advance.
From your Indian home to your new address abroad
- Survey and assess. We survey your home in person or by video, assess volume, identify anything requiring special treatment, and return a clear itemised quote covering packing, freight, customs and delivery.
- Prepare and document. Freight space is booked on the chosen route. The shipping bill and export paperwork are prepared. Your coordinator sets a confirmed packing date.
- Pack and inventory. Our crew packs your home to export standard on the confirmed date, building a detailed inventory so every carton is accounted for. Nothing leaves without being logged.
- Dispatch and track. The shipment leaves your Indian city and you receive a dispatch record and estimated arrival window at the destination port or airport.
- Deliver and settle. We coordinate import customs clearance and arrange delivery, unpacking and placement at your new address. You arrive to a home, not a warehouse of boxes.
Sea freight or air freight from India
For most full-household moves from India, sea freight is the practical choice. It is significantly more cost-effective for large volumes, and transit times of three to eight weeks are manageable with good planning. Air freight is worth considering for smaller, time-sensitive or high-value shipments — or as a complement to sea freight when you need some essentials to arrive ahead of the main consignment.
We will set out both options clearly in your quote and advise on which fits your situation. Request a survey and quote and we will plan the move around your destination and dates.
