Car Transport in India

Most people who book car transport in India are not moving the car for its own sake — they are moving a home, settling a new job, or taking delivery of a car bought online in another city. A family relocating from Delhi to Bangalore does not want to drive their sedan a thousand-odd kilometres while the household truck runs ahead; someone posted from Pune to Hyderabad would rather their car arrive rested than clock the highway on its own odometer. That distinction is the whole point of a proper car transportation service. The car is the cargo. It travels lashed to a trailer, photographed and condition-reported before it loads, covered by transit insurance for the road, and handed back with a joint check at the other end. How car transport works

A car move runs on a fixed sequence, and we are open about each step because the documented parts — the condition report and the joint check — are what protect your vehicle and your claim if anything ever goes wrong.

1. Booking and survey

   Tell us the car, the two cities and your dates, and we confirm the carrier type and a transit window. We photograph the vehicle — in person or from clear images you send — so the starting condition is recorded before the car ever reaches the trailer.

2. Pre-transport condition report

   We write down the car’s condition before loading: every existing dent, scratch and mark, the fuel level brought down to roughly a quarter tank, and a check that nothing loose or valuable is left inside. You sign off on it, and so do we — that report is the reference point for the whole journey.

3. Loading and securing on the carrier

   The car is driven gently onto the carrier, positioned, and secured — wheels strapped, body lashed, handbrake and gear set — so it cannot shift on the road. On an enclosed carrier it is shut away from dust, weather and road debris for the full leg.

4. Transit with tracking

   The carrier runs the route while your coordinator keeps you updated on progress and the expected delivery window. Short intercity legs usually run a day or two; long-haul routes take longer, and we give you an honest band rather than a number we cannot hold.

5. Delivery, joint check and handover

   At the destination the car is unloaded and we walk around it with you against the original condition report — same panels, same marks, nothing new. Once you are satisfied, the keys and paperwork are handed over and the move is closed.

Open vs enclosed carrier

The biggest choice you make is the type of carrier, and it comes down to the car and your budget rather than any rule. There is no wrong answer — only the right fit for what you are moving.

• Open carrier — a single or multi-car trailer with the vehicles exposed to the air, the same kind of carrier that delivers new cars to showrooms across India. It is the more economical and more widely available option, and it suits the great majority of everyday cars — hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs — on standard intercity routes. The car rides outside, so it sees dust and weather, but it is fully strapped and insured for the journey.
• Enclosed carrier — a covered trailer that shuts the car away from dust, rain, road grit and prying eyes. It is the premium choice for luxury, vintage and high-value cars where the paint and finish justify the extra cost. Enclosed carriers are fewer on the road, so they need a little more planning and lead time, but for the right vehicle the protection is worth it.

Door-to-door vs terminal

The other choice is where the car is collected and dropped. Both are normal; the trade-off is convenience against cost and access.

• Door-to-door — we collect the car from your address, or as close as a large carrier can safely reach, and deliver it to the destination address the same way. It is the simplest arrangement for a home relocation: you are not running to a yard at either end. Some tight lanes, low gates or narrow society entries mean the carrier parks on a wider road nearby and the car is driven the last short stretch — we tell you which at the survey.
• Terminal-to-terminal — you drop the car at a collection point and pick it up from one near the destination. It can work out more economical and can suit a flexible schedule, at the cost of the two short runs to and from the yards yourself.

Popular intercity car routes

A large share of our car transport runs on the long intercity corridors, where driving the car yourself makes the least sense and a carrier makes the most. The common ones are relocations, online car purchases and job transfers:

• Delhi to Mumbai — a long west-bound corridor where the carrier spares the car the full highway run.
• Pune to Hyderabad — another common intercity leg for job transfers and relocations.

What affects the cost of car transport

There is no honest flat price for moving a car, because the figure is built from the route and the vehicle, not pulled off a chart. We quote against the specifics rather than guess, and the free quote is how those specifics become one figure. What the price is built from:

• Distance and route — a short intercity hop prices very differently from a cross-country haul, and how busy a corridor is affects carrier availability too.
• Open vs enclosed carrier — an enclosed carrier costs more than an open one, which is why it is reserved for the cars that need it.
• Car size and type — a compact hatchback takes less space on the trailer than a large SUV, and the space a car occupies feeds the price.
• Door-to-door or terminal — door collection and delivery costs a little more than dropping and collecting at yards yourself.
• Insurance and season — transit cover priced on the vehicle’s value, and demand that rises around peak relocation and festival periods.
