The India–Azerbaijan corridor is built on energy, trade and transport. Azerbaijan’s oil and gas industry, its position on the emerging International North–South Transport Corridor linking India to the Caspian, and growing tourism and education ties have made Baku a regular destination from India. For professionals posted to the energy sector, families, students and Indian businesses entering the Caspian market, the move from India to Azerbaijan is a relocation that ends on the western shore of an inland sea.

The journey begins on the India side: export customs clearance through ICEGATE, preparation of the shipping bill under the Customs Act, AD code registration with the originating port, and export-grade packing for a sea voyage followed by a Caspian or overland leg. Azerbaijan has no ocean coastline — it sits on the landlocked Caspian Sea — so India–Azerbaijan shipments combine deep-sea carriage with a transhipment and overland or Caspian feeder leg, which makes precise India-end documentation critical.

Freight routes & customs

Sea freight carries household and commercial volumes. Containers leave Nhava Sheva (JNPT), Mundra, Chennai or Cochin and route via a transhipment hub — commonly through the Gulf or a Black Sea gateway in Georgia — with onward overland delivery into Azerbaijan, or via the Caspian to the Port of Baku (Alat) on multimodal routings tied to the North–South corridor. Realistic transit, including transhipment and the overland leg, runs roughly 32 to 48 days depending on routing.

Air freight from Mumbai (BOM), Delhi (DEL), Bengaluru (BLR) or Chennai (MAA) routes via a Gulf hub into Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD) in Baku, with some near-direct connections available. Azerbaijani import formalities are handled by the State Customs Committee. New residents and returning nationals can claim relief on used household goods under transfer-of-residence provisions; we confirm the current evidence requirements — residence permit, prior-residence proof and a valued inventory — before the shipment sails.

Indian export clearance

Shipping bill filed on ICEGATE, AD code registration and Indian customs clearance managed at Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Chennai or Cochin — documentation prepared for a multimodal Caspian routing.

Caspian and overland routing

India–Azerbaijan cargo combines deep-sea carriage with a Gulf or Georgian transhipment and onward overland or Caspian feeder leg into Baku. We plan the connections from start to finish.

Azerbaijani customs

Import declarations to the State Customs Committee, with transfer-of-residence relief on used effects prepared and evidenced for new residents.

One coordinator, both ends

The same person manages your India survey, ICEGATE documentation, dispatch and Azerbaijani delivery — no gaps across the transhipment and overland legs.

Who moves on this corridor

This single corridor serves the whole range of moves. Households and families relocate to join professionals posted to Azerbaijan’s energy and service sectors. Businesses and offices ship equipment and records as Indian firms set up operations tied to the Caspian and the North–South corridor. Commercial freight is significant here — project materials, plant spares and trade consignments — and students moving to Baku’s universities round out the route. We scale the same disciplined process to any volume.

Where we deliver in Azerbaijan

We deliver to all of Azerbaijan’s major cities and their surrounding areas: Baku, the capital on the Caspian; Ganja in the west; Sumqayit on the Absheron peninsula; Mingachevir on the Kura river; Lankaran in the south; Shaki in the northwest; and Nakhchivan, the exclave. If your destination is a smaller town or a project site, ask us — we arrange the final overland leg.

How your move works

  1. India-side survey. We assess volume and contents at your home or office in India, in person or by video, and return a clear quote with sea and air options and a realistic Baku arrival window.
  2. Export documentation. Indian export paperwork is prepared — shipping bill filed through ICEGATE, AD code confirmed, packing list and invoice — alongside the transit and Azerbaijani customs files.
  3. Pack and dispatch. Our crew packs to export standard from your India origin, and the shipment is booked on the confirmed multimodal routing or air-freighted via a Gulf hub.
  4. Clear and deliver in Azerbaijan. We manage clearance with the State Customs Committee, apply transfer-of-residence relief where eligible, and coordinate onward road delivery to your address.

Tell us where you are moving from in India and where you are heading in Azerbaijan, and request a quote — your coordinator will guide you through the right starting point.
