The India–Senegal corridor connects India with one of West Africa’s most stable and outward-looking economies. Senegal has built strong ties with India in pharmaceuticals, energy, agriculture and IT, and Dakar — a major regional gateway at the western tip of continental Africa — hosts a growing community of Indian professionals and businesses. For a family or company relocating here, the move is a substantial ocean journey, and it rewards a team that plans both ends of it.
Senegal sits on the Atlantic coast of West Africa, and the Port of Dakar is one of the busiest and best-connected ports on the continent’s western seaboard. That connectivity makes the corridor more straightforward than many African routes, though a shipment from India still crosses the Indian Ocean and transships en route. Seemleius plans the routing from the outset, so the India-side paperwork is correct and arrival timing is realistic.
Freight routes and customs
The India end begins with export clearance: a shipping bill filed on ICEGATE, AD code registration and an export-standard packing list and invoice. Sea freight departs from Nhava Sheva (JNPT), Mundra, Chennai or Cochin. Containers for Senegal route to the Port of Dakar, often via a transhipment call at a North African or European hub, with overall transit commonly in the range of 28 to 42 days depending on connections.
The Port of Dakar is the country’s principal gateway and a major hub for the wider West African region. Air freight moves from Mumbai (BOM), Delhi (DEL), Bengaluru (BLR) or Chennai (MAA) into Blaise Diagne International Airport near Dakar via a Gulf, North African or European hub. Customs clearance is handled by the Senegalese Customs administration (Douanes sénégalaises) through its electronic system. Returning residents and qualifying immigrants may import used household effects under transfer-of-residence provisions, and we confirm eligibility before the shipment leaves India.

Who moves on this corridor
This single corridor serves the full range of moves from India to Senegal. Households and families relocate for work postings, technical and healthcare roles, or to join relatives already settled in Dakar. Businesses and offices ship equipment, records and workstations as Indian firms establish operations in Senegal’s pharmaceutical, energy and trade sectors. Commercial freight — machinery, trade samples, retail stock and project cargo — moves on the same routings, consolidated or full-container as volume requires.
Where we deliver in Senegal
We deliver to all of Senegal’s major cities and their surrounding regions: Dakar and its metropolitan area, including Pikine, Guédiawaye and Rufisque; Thiès, the second city, inland from the capital; Touba in the centre of the country; Saint-Louis on the northern coast; Kaolack in the agricultural heartland; and Ziguinchor in the Casamance region to the south. Deliveries to the Casamance involve a longer inland leg, which we build into the schedule. If your destination is not listed, ask us — we deliver across the whole country.
