No corridor from India is closer in heritage than the one to Mauritius. Around two-thirds of the island’s population is of Indian origin, descended largely from indentured workers who arrived from the nineteenth century onward, and the cultural, linguistic and family ties between the two countries remain exceptionally strong. Mauritius is also a major financial and business hub for Indian investment. The India–Mauritius corridor is one of the busiest and most natural emigration and trade routes in the Indian Ocean.
Seemleius manages this move as one continuous job. Mauritius is well connected to India by sea and air, which makes for a relatively efficient corridor — but the export documentation and customs handling at each end still need to be precise. We coordinate the Indian side and the Mauritian arrival so a household or office leaving Mumbai, Chennai or Cochin reaches Port Louis or Ebene without a coordination gap.
Freight routes and customs
The India end begins with the shipping bill filed on ICEGATE under the Customs Act, AD code registration at the originating port, and export-standard packing. Sea freight departs Nhava Sheva (JNPT), Mundra, Chennai or Cochin to Port Louis, the island’s sole commercial port and a well-served Indian Ocean hub, with realistic port-to-port transit of around 12 to 22 days depending on routing and any transhipment. Air freight from Mumbai (BOM), Delhi (DEL), Bengaluru (BLR) or Chennai (MAA) reaches Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) on direct services operated by Air Mauritius and Indian carriers — an efficient option for time-sensitive moves.
At the Mauritian end, clearance is handled by the Mauritius Revenue Authority Customs Department. Returning citizens and qualifying residents can claim relief on used personal and household effects under transfer-of-residence provisions, subject to ownership periods, an inventory and proof of relocation; commercial cargo attracts standard import duty and VAT. We confirm the duty position before dispatch and prepare documentation to Mauritian standard.
Indian export clearance
Shipping bill filed on ICEGATE, AD code registration and FEMA-aware documentation, with customs clearance managed at Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Chennai or Cochin.
Well-connected routing
Regular sea services to Port Louis (12 to 22 days) and direct air freight into MRU — one of the more efficient corridors from India.
Mauritian customs
Clearance through the Mauritius Revenue Authority Customs Department, transfer-of-residence relief assessed for eligible movers, and duty and VAT confirmed before dispatch.
One coordinator, both ends
The same person manages your India survey, export paperwork, dispatch and Mauritius delivery — no gaps between origin and destination.
Who moves on this corridor
This single page serves the whole corridor. Households — Indian-origin families relocating or returning, and Indian professionals joining roles in finance, ICT, hospitality and healthcare. Business and office moves — Indian firms establishing or relocating offices in the Ebene CyberCity and Port Louis financial district, shipping IT, furniture and records. Commercial freight — stock, equipment and project cargo for the deep and long-standing India–Mauritius commercial relationship.
Where we deliver in Mauritius
We deliver to Port Louis, the capital, and to Ebene, Curepipe, Quatre Bornes, Vacoas-Phoenix, Beau Bassin-Rose Hill, Grand Baie and across the island, including Rodrigues by onward connection. Distances are short and the road network is good, so once a shipment clears customs, final delivery is straightforward. If your destination is not listed here, ask us — we deliver island-wide.
How your move works
- India-side survey. We assess volume and contents at your home or office in India, in person or by video, and return a clear quote with sea and air options and realistic Port Louis arrival windows.
- Export documentation. Indian export paperwork is prepared early: shipping bill on ICEGATE, AD code confirmed, packing list, invoice and any FEMA-related declarations.
- Pack and dispatch. Our crew packs to export standard from your India origin, and the shipment is booked by sea to Port Louis or by air into MRU.
- Clear and deliver in Mauritius. We manage Mauritius Revenue Authority customs clearance, advise on transfer-of-residence relief, and coordinate onward delivery to your address.
