The India–Barbados corridor

Barbados is not a direct-call destination from India, so household and commercial sea freight moves as containerised cargo from Nhava Sheva (JNPT), Mundra, Chennai or Cochin and transships through a hub — commonly Caucedo in the Dominican Republic, Kingston in Jamaica or a European gateway — before the feeder leg into the Port of Bridgetown, the island’s only deep-water commercial port. Realistic door-to-port transit runs around six to nine weeks depending on routing and connection schedules.

Air freight from Mumbai (BOM), Delhi (DEL), Bengaluru (BLR) or Chennai (MAA) routes via a European or North American hub into Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI), for moves where a visa start date will not wait for sea transit. On arrival, clearance is handled by the Barbados Customs & Excise Department; returning nationals and approved settlers may claim concessionary treatment on used household effects, and we confirm eligibility before the shipment sails.
