Personal effects and used household goods imported into the UAE by a resident taking up residence are generally exempt from UAE customs duty, subject to conditions: the goods must be used (not new), they must be imported within a set period of the owner’s UAE residency establishment, and the documentation must correctly describe the goods as personal and household effects.
