The India–Saint Kitts and Nevis corridor is a specialised one. The twin-island federation in the eastern Caribbean is best known to Indian families through its Citizenship by Investment programme, which draws investors and their households for the security of a second passport and a Caribbean base. Others move for hospitality, professional services or to join family on the islands. Whatever the reason, the move is a long, multi-leg journey, and it rewards careful planning.

Saint Kitts and Nevis has no direct deep-sea connection to India. A shipment crosses the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic, transshipping through a larger Caribbean hub before a feeder vessel completes the final leg. Seemleius plans that whole chain from the outset, so the India-side paperwork is correct and the transit expectations are honest.

Freight routes and customs

The India end begins with export clearance: a shipping bill filed on ICEGATE, AD code registration and an export-standard packing list and invoice. Sea freight departs from Nhava Sheva (JNPT), Mundra, Chennai or Cochin. With no direct service to the islands, containers route via a major transhipment hub — commonly Kingston in Jamaica or Caucedo in the Dominican Republic — before a feeder service completes the journey, with overall transit commonly in the range of 35 to 50 days depending on connections.

Saint Kitts is served by Port Zante and the deep-water cargo facility at Bird Rock in Basseterre, while Nevis is served by the port at Charlestown. Air freight moves from Mumbai (BOM), Delhi (DEL), Bengaluru (BLR) or Chennai (MAA) into Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport on Saint Kitts via connecting hubs in Europe, North America or the Caribbean. Customs clearance is handled by the St Kitts and Nevis Customs and Excise Department. Returning nationals and qualifying residents may import used household effects under concession provisions, and we confirm eligibility before the shipment leaves India.

Indian export clearance

Shipping bill filed on ICEGATE, AD code registration and export-standard documentation handled at Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Chennai or Cochin so the shipment leaves India cleanly.

Transhipment routing

Sea freight planned via a Caribbean hub and feeder service to Basseterre or Charlestown, with realistic 35 to 50 day transit windows explained up front.

Customs clearance

Import declarations to the St Kitts and Nevis Customs and Excise Department, with used-goods concessions assessed and documented before dispatch.

One coordinator

The same coordinator manages your India survey, export paperwork, ocean and feeder legs, and island delivery — no handover gaps across the corridor.

Who moves on this corridor

This single corridor serves the full range of moves from India to Saint Kitts and Nevis. Households and families relocate under the Citizenship by Investment programme, for hospitality and professional roles, or to join relatives on the islands. Businesses and offices ship equipment, records and furnishings for ventures in tourism, real estate and services. Commercial freight — trade samples, furnishings, retail stock and project cargo — moves on the same transhipment routings, consolidated as a part-container load where volumes are modest.

Where we deliver in Saint Kitts and Nevis

We deliver across both islands of the federation: Basseterre, the capital and commercial centre on Saint Kitts, along with Frigate Bay, Sandy Point Town and the communities around the island; and on Nevis, Charlestown and the surrounding parishes. The two-island geography means a delivery to Nevis includes a short additional sea leg from Saint Kitts, which we schedule into the plan. If your destination is not listed, ask us — we deliver across the whole federation.

How your move works

  1. India-side survey. We assess volume and contents at your home or office in India, in person or by video, and return a clear quote with sea and air options and a realistic island arrival window.
  2. Export documentation. Indian export paperwork is prepared early: shipping bill on ICEGATE, AD code confirmed, packing list and invoice — never left to the final week.
  3. Pack and dispatch. Our crew packs to export standard at your India origin, and the shipment is booked and dispatched on the confirmed transhipment route.
  4. Clear and deliver in Saint Kitts and Nevis. We manage Customs and Excise clearance, advise on used-goods concessions and coordinate onward delivery on Saint Kitts or Nevis.
