The India–Trinidad and Tobago corridor carries a depth of history found on few relocation routes. People of Indian origin make up a large share of Trinidad and Tobago’s population, descendants of indentured workers who arrived from the mid-nineteenth century — and that heritage keeps the cultural and family ties between the two countries unusually strong. Today the corridor carries returning families, professionals in energy and finance, and businesses drawn by the twin-island nation’s position as the industrial anchor of the southern Caribbean.

Seemleius manages the move as a single corridor from your door in India to your address in Trinidad and Tobago, covering Indian export clearance, the ocean leg, Trinidadian import formalities and final delivery — whether the consignment is a household, an office or commercial freight.

Freight routes and customs

Every move on this corridor starts at the India end: an export shipping bill filed on ICEGATE, AD code registration with the dispatching port, and a detailed packing list and valued inventory. Sea freight handles household and commercial volumes — containers leave Nhava Sheva (JNPT), Mundra, Chennai or Cochin and sail, generally via a transhipment hub such as a Mediterranean or Caribbean port, to Port of Spain or the industrial port at Point Lisas. Transit times realistically run five to eight weeks port to port depending on connections. Air freight from Mumbai (BOM), Delhi (DEL), Bengaluru (BLR) or Chennai (MAA) routes via a European or North American hub into Piarco International Airport (POS) for time-critical shipments.

At the Trinidadian end, clearance is handled by the Customs and Excise Division under the Ministry of Finance. Returning nationals and approved long-stay arrivals can claim relief on used household and personal effects under transfer-of-residence provisions, subject to ownership and use conditions and a complete inventory. We confirm the documentary position before the container is booked.

Indian export clearance

Shipping bill on ICEGATE, AD code registration and Indian customs clearance at Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Chennai or Cochin — the shipment leaves India correctly documented.

Sea to Port of Spain

Container services via a Mediterranean or Caribbean transhipment hub into Port of Spain or Point Lisas, with air via a European or North American hub when speed matters.

Trinidadian customs

Import declarations to the Customs and Excise Division, transfer-of-residence relief assessed early, and inventories prepared to inspection standard.

One coordinator, both ends

The same person manages your India survey, export documentation, ocean dispatch and Trinidadian delivery — no handover gaps.
