Chad is a vast landlocked country spanning the transition from the Sahara in the north to the savanna of the south, anchored economically by oil, agriculture and livestock. It is one of the more challenging relocation destinations in Central Africa, and moves there from India are made chiefly by energy-sector professionals, development and humanitarian organisations, and diplomatic missions in N’Djamena. For these moves, the value of a logistics partner lies in the planning.

A shipment to Chad is a long overland journey behind a sea voyage. With no coastline and the nearest major port more than 1,700 kilometres away, every container clears export customs in India, crosses to a West African port, and then travels by road — most often through Cameroon — to reach N’Djamena. Seemleius coordinates the whole chain so the sea, port and inland legs are handled by one team.

The India–Chad corridor

Export clearance in India begins with the shipping bill filed on ICEGATE, AD code registration with the loading port and export-standard packing. Sea freight departs from Nhava Sheva (JNPT), Mundra, Chennai or Cochin and is routed via transhipment to the Port of Douala in Cameroon — the standard maritime gateway for Chad-bound cargo — with the sea leg typically 28 to 40 days. From Douala the shipment moves by road on the Douala–N’Djamena corridor, processed under bonded transit through Cameroon. Customs clearance in Chad is handled by the Direction Générale des Douanes et Droits Indirects, which administers import duty, VAT and the conditions for relief on used personal effects under transfer-of-residence provisions.

Air freight from Mumbai (BOM), Delhi (DEL), Bengaluru (BLR) or Chennai (MAA) reaches Chad through N’Djamena International Airport (NDJ), routed via Addis Ababa, Casablanca or a Gulf hub. Given the demands of the overland route, air is frequently the practical choice for urgent or high-value consignments, and we advise honestly on the cost trade-off.

Indian export clearance

Shipping bill filed on ICEGATE, AD code registration, FEMA-aware documentation and customs clearance at Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Chennai or Cochin — so the shipment leaves India correctly.

Transhipment via Douala

Cargo routes through the Port of Douala and crosses Cameroon by road under bonded transit on the Douala–N’Djamena corridor — we plan and monitor every stage.

Chad customs

Clearance with the Direction Générale des Douanes, duty and VAT treatment confirmed in advance, and transfer-of-residence relief claimed where eligible.

One coordinator, both ends

The same person manages your India packing survey, ICEGATE export documentation, sea or air dispatch and N’Djamena delivery — no handover gaps across a long route.

Who moves on this corridor

The India–Chad route serves a focused set of movers. Households are largely the personal effects of oil and energy professionals, development and humanitarian staff, and diplomatic personnel posted to N’Djamena. Business and office moves arise where Indian firms or international organisations set up project offices. Commercial freight covers equipment, vehicles and supplies for energy projects and development programmes. This single corridor page serves all three; your coordinator builds the documentation and routing around your consignment.

Where we deliver in Chad

We deliver to N’Djamena, the capital and largest city, where the great majority of moves are destined; and to regional centres including Moundou, Sarh, Abéché, Doba and Kelo where access conditions allow. For destinations outside the capital we assess the route individually and confirm what is feasible as part of your quote.

How your move works

  1. India-side survey. We assess volume and contents at your home or office in India — in person or by video — and return a clear quote with sea and air options and realistic N’Djamena arrival windows.
  2. Export documentation. Indian export paperwork is prepared: shipping bill filed through ICEGATE, AD code confirmed, packing list, invoice and any FEMA-related declarations.
  3. Pack and dispatch. Our crew packs to export standard from your India origin, and the shipment is booked and dispatched via Douala or by air to N’Djamena.
  4. Clear and deliver in Chad. We manage transit through Cameroon, import clearance at N’Djamena, advise on relief, and coordinate final delivery to your address.

To start a move from India to Chad, request a quote and your coordinator will walk you through the documentation, routing and timeline.
