Pets & Vehicle Relocation to Qatar
Relocating pets and vehicles from India to Qatar — India export requirements, Qatar import compliance and Hamad Port coordination as part of your move.
Pets and vehicles are the two elements of an India–Qatar move that generate the most questions — and the most anxiety when they are left until the last moment. Moving either from India to Qatar involves requirements at both the India departure end and the Qatar arrival end, and on a corridor where the sea voyage itself takes weeks, the planning window is longer than people typically expect. Seemleius coordinates both as planned components of your move from the India end, so neither becomes a crisis in the final week.
Bringing your pet from India to Qatar
Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality sets the entry requirements for animals; India’s export process adds another layer at the departure end. Together, they mean a pet moving from India to Qatar needs to satisfy two sets of requirements simultaneously — and both have lead times that cannot be shortened.
From the India side, pets require a health certificate issued by an accredited veterinarian close to the departure date, and some species require export clearance from the relevant Indian authority. From the Qatar side, the requirements include microchipping, a valid rabies vaccination record within the required window, an official health certificate from a recognised authority in India, and — for certain species and origins — an advance import permit issued by Qatar before the animal travels. The specific requirements vary by species; we work from current regulations rather than assumptions.
Air freight is the standard mode for live animals on this corridor. India’s summer months create temperature embargo windows on certain airlines that must be factored into the booking; we work with accredited pet handlers who know both the airline requirements and the Qatar entry process.
- Guidance on both India’s current export requirements and Qatar’s current import requirements for your specific pet
- Coordination with accredited handlers experienced in India–Gulf animal transport
- Import permit application support for Qatar, where applicable
- Journey timing aligned with your household move so your pet arrives in Doha when you do
Moving your vehicle from India to Qatar
A vehicle moving from India to Qatar travels by sea — there is no other practical option on this corridor. The vessel choice is either Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo), where the vehicle is driven on and off the ship, or container shipping, which is used for classic, high-value or specialist vehicles that need enclosed protection for the voyage. From Nhava Sheva, Chennai or Cochin to Hamad Port, the sea transit adds weeks to the overall timeline, and the planning needs to account for that.
At the India end, the vehicle must be formally exported: a shipping bill is filed, the vehicle is inspected at the port, and export clearance is obtained before loading. At the Qatar end, customs duties are assessed on the vehicle’s value and Qatar’s vehicle registration requirements apply before the car can be legally driven in Doha.
- Indian export documentation prepared — shipping bill, port inspection and clearance, de-registration assistance if needed
- Sea freight arranged from the most practical Indian port — RoRo or container depending on vehicle type and available services
- Qatar import documentation and customs duty estimate before shipment so the costs are understood in advance
- Detailed pre-shipment condition report established at the India end
Early planning is not optional on this corridor
An India-to-Qatar pet move, planned late, can mean the animal travels weeks after the family — or that the Qatar import permit has not arrived in time and the journey has to be rebooked. A vehicle moved without proper export documentation from India creates problems at Hamad Port that cannot be resolved quickly. Both outcomes are avoidable. The earlier the pet and vehicle are included in the planning conversation, the more straightforward both become.
How it works
- Tell us what is moving. Pet species, breed and size, and / or vehicle make, model and year, plus your India departure city and planned Doha arrival timeline.
- Map both sets of requirements. We confirm the current India export and Qatar import requirements for each, flag anything needing early action and build a coordinated timeline.
- Arrange from India. Pet travel bookings and vehicle sea freight are confirmed and aligned with your household shipment schedule.
- Confirm Qatar arrival. You are kept updated through each stage of both journeys through to Doha delivery and clearance.
Tell us early — early enough for the Qatar import permit if your pet needs one, and early enough for the vehicle export clearance at the Indian port. Get in touch and we will tell you exactly what each one needs from the India end.
Common questions about this move
Anything specific to your situation? A specialist for this corridor is happy to help.
Contact usHow long does a move to Qatar take?
Transit time depends on the freight mode and the volume. Your coordinator gives you a realistic window when quoting — sea freight is slower and more economical, air freight is faster for time-sensitive moves.
Do you handle customs at both ends?
Yes. Export and import documentation is prepared and submitted on your behalf, and clearance is coordinated at both origin and destination.
Is my shipment insured in transit?
Transit insurance is available on every corridor. Your coordinator explains the cover options when quoting so you can choose what suits the shipment.
How far ahead should I book?
Two to four weeks is comfortable for most international moves, but we regularly handle urgent relocations. The earlier you reach out, the more flexibility you have on dates and freight space.
Will I have one point of contact?
Always — a dedicated coordinator owns your move from first quote to final delivery, including the customs and freight handovers in between.
