Honduras sits at the heart of Central America, and the India–Honduras corridor has grown quietly on the back of trade and industry. India supplies pharmaceuticals, textiles, vehicles and engineering products into the Honduran market, and the country’s manufacturing zones — the maquila sector around San Pedro Sula in particular — draw technical and managerial staff from abroad. For Indian professionals and families, the corridor is long and indirect, and a successful relocation depends on getting the India end exactly right. Seemleius runs the route as one coordinated job.

The move begins in India. Export clearance is filed through ICEGATE with the shipping bill prepared under the Customs Act, AD code registration completed at the loading port, and packing built for a long voyage through Caribbean transhipment. In Honduras, imports are cleared by the Administración Aduanera de Honduras through the Caribbean port of Puerto Cortés, the country’s principal gateway. Returning Honduran nationals and long-term residents may claim relief on used household effects under transfer-of-residence provisions, and we confirm eligibility — residence history, ownership evidence — before a container sails.

Freight routes and customs

Sea freight is the backbone of this corridor. Containers depart Nhava Sheva (JNPT), Mundra, Chennai or Cochin and route to Puerto Cortés on the Caribbean coast — the largest port in Central America and the entry point for most Honduran imports. There are no direct sailings from India, so cargo routes through a transhipment hub such as Kingston, Caucedo or a US east-coast port; realistic port-to-port transit runs about 32 to 48 days. Puerto Cortés is well run by regional standards, but origin documentation must still be accurate.

Air freight from Mumbai (BOM), Delhi (DEL), Bengaluru (BLR) or Chennai (MAA) reaches Honduras via multi-stop routings, typically through a Gulf hub and a North American connection, into Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport (SAP) at San Pedro Sula or Palmerola International Airport (XPL) serving Tegucigalpa. Air suits urgent consignments while the main shipment travels by sea. We explain the cost gap plainly.

Indian export clearance

Shipping bill on ICEGATE, AD code registration and Indian customs clearance managed at Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Chennai or Cochin for a correctly documented departure.

Honduras customs

Clearance through the Administración Aduanera de Honduras at Puerto Cortés, with transfer-of-residence relief on used effects confirmed in advance.

Sea and air options

Sea via Puerto Cortés on Caribbean transhipment routings (about 32 to 48 days); multi-stop air via SAP or XPL for urgent consignments.

One coordinator, both ends

One coordinator manages the India survey, export paperwork, dispatch and Honduran clearance — no handover gap.

Who moves on this corridor

The India–Honduras route serves a clear mix. Household moves are largely manufacturing, textile and engineering professionals and their families on contract in the industrial sector. Business and office relocations cover Indian firms in pharmaceuticals, textiles, trading and equipment supply. Commercial freight runs alongside — production machinery, spares and fit-out cargo. We scope routing and documentation to each profile.

Where we deliver in Honduras

We deliver to San Pedro Sula, the industrial capital and the centre of most relocations, and to Tegucigalpa, the national capital. We also handle onward delivery to La Ceiba on the north coast, Choloma in the manufacturing belt, El Progreso, Comayagua near Palmerola, and the Bay Islands gateway of Roatán. Inland delivery from Puerto Cortés is by road and planned around route conditions. If your destination is a town not listed, tell us and we will price the final leg.

How your move works

  1. India-side survey. We assess volume at your home or office in India, in person or by video, and return a clear quote with a realistic Puerto Cortés arrival window.
  2. Export documentation. Indian paperwork is prepared early — shipping bill on ICEGATE, AD code, packing list and invoice — so nothing is rushed.
  3. Pack and dispatch. Our crew packs to export standard and the shipment is booked on the confirmed transhipment routing to Puerto Cortés.
  4. Clear and deliver in Honduras. We manage customs clearance with the Administración Aduanera, advise on transfer-of-residence relief, and coordinate onward delivery to your address.
