Freight routes & customs

Sea freight from Jebel Ali routes to Vietnam’s major ports — Cat Lai and the Cai Mep deep-water terminals serving the south near Ho Chi Minh City, and Hai Phong serving the north near Hanoi. Door-to-door transit typically runs around four to six weeks. Air freight from DXB flies into Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City or Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, roughly six to seven hours direct, suited to urgent or higher-value consignments.

Customs is administered by the General Department of Vietnam Customs. Returning residents and citizens, and expatriates arriving on appropriate visas, may import used personal and household effects with relief from import duty where the goods have been owned and used abroad and are presented with a detailed inventory, passport and visa or work-permit evidence. We prepare the declaration in advance and confirm the treatment before the shipment leaves the UAE.
