The Comoros is a small island nation in the Indian Ocean, set in the Mozambique Channel between Madagascar and the East African coast. A move from the UAE to the Comoros is an island relocation that depends on careful planning — there is no direct shipping line from the Gulf, so freight is transhipped through a regional hub before the final leg to Moroni. Seemleius coordinates that multi-stage journey as a single managed move.
The UAE–Comoros corridor is a smaller, specialist route, used by Comorian families returning home from the Gulf, professionals in development, health and education work, and traders. Island moves reward realistic planning — limited sailing frequency, transhipment connections and customs on used goods all need to be accounted for — and that detailed, honest approach is what we bring to the route.
Freight routes and customs into the Comoros
The Comoros has no direct deep-sea connection to the UAE. Sea freight from Jebel Ali is transhipped — commonly via a regional hub such as Mombasa, Dar es Salaam or a port in the wider Indian Ocean network — before sailing on to Port of Moroni on Grande Comore, with door-to-door transit generally running six to ten weeks depending on connections. Air freight from DXB routes via a regional hub such as Nairobi or Addis Ababa into Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport near Moroni and is the faster option for urgent or smaller consignments.
Customs is administered by the Comorian customs service (Direction Générale des Douanes). Returning nationals and new residents may be eligible for relief on used personal and household effects, subject to a detailed inventory, passport and residence or work documentation. Where the destination is one of the outer islands rather than Grande Comore, an inter-island transfer is required. We prepare the customs file before departure and build any inter-island leg into the plan.
Transhipment routing
Sea from Jebel Ali via a regional Indian Ocean hub to Moroni — air via Nairobi or Addis Ababa when the timeline is tight.
Customs prepared
Relief on used effects, detailed inventories and residence documentation assembled and checked before the shipment sails.
Inter-island delivery
If your home is on Anjouan or Mohéli rather than Grande Comore, the onward island transfer is part of the managed plan.
One coordinator
A single point of contact owns the move from the UAE survey to island delivery — through every transhipment and handover.
Who moves on this route
The UAE–Comoros corridor serves household relocations — families and individuals shipping furniture and personal effects — alongside business and institutional moves for organisations rotating staff. We also handle commercial freight, from project and supply consignments to trade goods for development and infrastructure work. Each is surveyed and quoted separately, then run through one corridor plan.
Where we deliver
We deliver across the Comoros’ three main islands and their towns:
- Moroni — the national capital and largest city, on Grande Comore, with the country’s main port and airport
- Mutsamudu — the principal town and port of Anjouan
- Fomboni — the main town of Mohéli, the smallest of the three islands
- Domoni — a historic town on Anjouan
- Mitsamiouli — a northern town on Grande Comore
How your move works
- Survey and quote. We assess volume and contents in the UAE, in person or by video, and return a clear itemised quote with routing options for the Comoros corridor.
- Document in advance. Transhipment routing and the destination island are confirmed, space is booked, and customs paperwork is prepared before the shipment leaves the UAE.
- Pack and ship. Our crew packs to export standard, builds a full inventory, and dispatches from Jebel Ali or DXB on the agreed route.
- Clear and deliver. We manage transhipment, customs clearance and any inter-island transfer, then coordinate delivery and unpacking at your address in the Comoros.
A move to an Indian Ocean archipelago needs a plan that accounts for every leg. Request a quote and your coordinator will map the UAE–Comoros corridor to your move.
