The Federated States of Micronesia is one of the most remote destinations on any relocation map — a scattered group of islands across the western Pacific. Moves from the UAE are infrequent but real: development and aid professionals, contractors on infrastructure projects, and people joining family across the four states of Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei and Kosrae.
There is no direct freight service of any kind between the UAE and Micronesia, so this corridor is built entirely on transhipment. Success depends on careful routing, realistic timelines and documentation that survives several legs of transit intact. Seemleius plans the whole chain from a single point of contact in the UAE, so the move is coordinated rather than improvised.
Freight routes and Micronesian customs
Sea freight leaves Jebel Ali and transships through a major Asian hub — typically a port in East or Southeast Asia — before connecting onto Pacific feeder services that call at Pohnpei, the main port of entry, with onward connections to Chuuk, Yap and Kosrae. Total transit is long and seasonal, commonly running two to three months door to door. Air freight routes from DXB via an Asian gateway and onward Pacific carriers into Pohnpei and is reserved for urgent or smaller consignments.
Micronesian customs is administered by the FSM Customs and Tax Administration, with import duties applied at the national level and additional handling at the individual state of entry. Used household goods belonging to a person establishing residence are generally treated favourably, but a detailed, valued inventory and proof of residence or employment are essential. Because connectivity is limited, we confirm the entry state and the inbound schedule before any goods leave the UAE.
Sea & air freight

Transhipment planned
No direct UAE–Micronesia service exists, so we route through a proven hub and align with infrequent Pacific feeder schedules.
One coordinator
A single contact owns the move across every leg — no information lost between the UAE, the transhipment hub and the islands.
Who moves on this route
The UAE–Micronesia corridor mainly carries household moves — families and individuals relocating for work or to join relatives. It also handles business and project freight, including equipment and supplies for development, construction and government programmes. This single page covers the whole corridor; tell us what you are shipping and we scope it accordingly.
Where we deliver
We deliver across the four states of the Federation:
- Pohnpei — home to the national capital, Palikir, and the country’s principal port of entry
- Chuuk — the most populous state, centred on its large lagoon and the town of Weno
- Yap — the westernmost state, with its main centre at Colonia
- Kosrae — the easternmost state, a single high island with the centre at Tofol
How your move works
- Survey and quote. We assess volume and contents in the UAE, in person or by video, and return a clear quote with the full routing and realistic timeline explained.
- Document in advance. The entry state and feeder schedule are confirmed, and customs paperwork and the valued inventory are prepared before departure.
- Pack and ship. Our crew packs to export standard for a long multi-leg journey, builds a full inventory, and dispatches from Jebel Ali or DXB.
- Clear and deliver. We manage FSM customs clearance at the entry state and coordinate onward island delivery and unpacking at your address.
Relocating to Micronesia takes patient, careful planning, and that is exactly what Seemleius provides. Request a quote and your coordinator will map the routing and timeline to your move.
