Moving to the USA

Corporate & Office Relocation to the USA

Office and business relocation from the UAE to the USA — commercial customs handled, IT sequenced, operations protected across the transit.

A corporate relocation from the UAE to the United States is not a large house move — and it should not be treated as one. US Customs & Border Protection distinguishes clearly between personal effects and commercial goods, and business equipment, stock and commercial assets have their own import classification, documentation requirements and sometimes duties. Getting that distinction wrong from the UAE end creates the kind of US port delay that derails an office opening. Seemleius corporate and office relocation to the USA is managed as a commercial project with those requirements built in from the first conversation.

The operational challenge of a US office move

The USA’s size means the logistics chain is longer than it first appears. Goods clear at the gateway port — New York/Newark, Los Angeles/Long Beach, Houston, Savannah — and then have to travel inland to the actual US address. That final delivery leg needs to be arranged as part of the shipment, not left to the American side to handle after clearance. We arrange the full chain: UAE collection, freight, US customs and inland delivery to your commercial destination.

Most corporate moves on this corridor have two dates the move team cares about: the lease commencement date at the new US premises, and the return-to-office (RTO) date when staff are expected to be working there. They are rarely the same. The shipment plan needs to fit between them — goods arriving after the lease starts (when access is possible) but before the RTO date (when desks need to be usable). Sea freight from Jebel Ali to a US east-coast or west-coast port takes 28 to 38 days, so the entire window has to be planned backwards from RTO.

Tech-corridor lift-outs: NYC and the Bay Area

Two destinations dominate our corporate corridor: a Manhattan / Brooklyn / Hudson Yards lift-out for finance, media and east-coast tech, and a Bay Area arrival for venture-backed and enterprise tech firms taking premises in Mountain View, Palo Alto, San Francisco SoMa or South San Francisco. Both have specific operational quirks. NYC commercial buildings require COI (Certificate of Insurance) filing with the landlord before access, freight elevators with booked windows, and frequently weekend works permits to avoid disrupting the broader tenant base. Bay Area campuses have tighter security protocols, dock scheduling several days in advance and badge-access requirements for delivery crews.

What we handle for a corporate move

Office furniture & equipment

Workstations, meeting room fit-out and storage — disassembled, shipped and reassembled to your US floor plan with seat assignments mapped.

Server racks & IT infrastructure

Powered down and sequenced for packing; rack-and-stack at the US destination, coordinated to come back up in the right order with cabling labelled.

Secure document transit

Sealed records, contracts, legal files and HR documentation moved under chain-of-custody manifest with destruction logs where required.

Commercial import classification

Business goods classified to the HTS and documented correctly for CBP from the UAE side — no post-arrival surprises at port.

Gateway-to-office delivery

Inland US trucking from the port of entry to your commercial address, arranged as part of the overall shipment with COI and dock booking.

Weekend & out-of-hours works

Where the building or campus restricts weekday moves, we run delivery and install over a weekend window with the appropriate permits in place.

Documentation and entity-level considerations

A US corporate import touches more entity-level documentation than a residential move. The Employer Identification Number (EIN) for the US receiving entity is required for CBP entry; the importer-of-record needs to be clearly established — whether that is the US subsidiary, a Delaware C-corp, an LLC or a branch office. Customs bonds (continuous bond for ongoing operations or single-entry bond for one-off shipments) need to be in place at the time of entry. Where the move includes server hardware with embedded software, encryption export controls (US Export Administration Regulations and any reciprocal UAE export classification) need a clean answer. Where it includes inventory or sample stock, the move sits closer to a commercial cargo entry than a personal-effects move, and we treat it that way.

How a US corporate move runs

  1. Assess and plan. We review the UAE premises, the US destination and the access requirements at each, then build a sequenced plan with the transit timeline built in. Lease commencement and RTO dates anchor the schedule.
  2. Classify and document. Commercial goods are correctly classified for US import before departure — HTS codes, valuation, CBP documentation prepared in full and ISF filed at least 24 hours before sailing.
  3. Execute and track. Packing, shipment and US customs clearance run to the plan; your coordinator monitors each handover, including the inland trucking handoff.
  4. Deliver and set up. Inland delivery to the US office is arranged, the space is assembled to plan, server racks are reinstated and the operation is ready for your team on day one.

The sea transit on this corridor means the planning window for a corporate move is real — start early and there are no surprises. Talk to us about your US relocation and we will build a schedule around your go-live date.

Contact us
How long does a move to the USA take?

Transit time depends on the freight mode and the volume. Your coordinator gives you a realistic window when quoting — sea freight is slower and more economical, air freight is faster for time-sensitive moves.

Do you handle customs at both ends?

Yes. Export and import documentation is prepared and submitted on your behalf, and clearance is coordinated at both origin and destination.

Is my shipment insured in transit?

Transit insurance is available on every corridor. Your coordinator explains the cover options when quoting so you can choose what suits the shipment.

How far ahead should I book?

Two to four weeks is comfortable for most international moves, but we regularly handle urgent relocations. The earlier you reach out, the more flexibility you have on dates and freight space.

Will I have one point of contact?

Always — a dedicated coordinator owns your move from first quote to final delivery, including the customs and freight handovers in between.
