Poland sits at the centre of one of Europe’s busiest logistics regions, and its Baltic ports have grown into genuine alternatives to the older North Sea gateways. For UAE businesses, that makes Poland an increasingly practical entry point into the European Union — provided the cargo arrives correctly classified and fully documented. Commercial freight that reaches a Polish port with gaps in its paperwork does not get a quiet pass; it gets held while the file is corrected. Seemleius commercial cargo and freight on the UAE–Poland corridor is built to prevent that: accurate classification, complete documentation, and a coordinator who tracks the consignment through every handover.
The UAE–Poland freight corridor
We arrange and coordinate sea and air freight from the UAE into Poland for commercial stock, plant and equipment, industrial goods, consolidated consignments and full containers. Sea freight from Jebel Ali into Gdańsk, Gdynia or the Szczecin–Świnoujście complex typically runs in the region of 24 to 32 days depending on the service and any transhipment. Air freight from DXB into Warsaw is a far shorter journey for time-critical cargo. Poland’s position as an EU point of entry is a strategic advantage when goods need to reach several European markets — clearing customs at a Polish port clears the cargo into the entire EU, simplifying onward distribution into Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and the Baltic states.
Sea freight
Cost-effective for larger volumes and bulk commercial consignments — full container or consolidated loads via Jebel Ali into Gdańsk, Gdynia or Szczecin–Świnoujście, with bonded storage at the port where onward clearance is staged.
Air freight
For time-sensitive commercial cargo — high-value goods, urgent equipment or consignments that cannot wait on sea transit — routed direct from DXB into Warsaw.
Polish customs & EORI
EU import documentation prepared for the Krajowa Administracja Skarbowa — HS classification, EORI registration, valuation and supporting records done properly the first time.
Onward road delivery
From the Polish port or airport to the final commercial address anywhere in Poland, or onward into wider Europe under T1/T2 transit where required.
Polish customs, the EU code and EORI
Poland applies the Union Customs Code, and import clearances are handled electronically by the Krajowa Administracja Skarbowa — the national revenue administration. Every commercial importer needs an EORI number registered before cargo can clear in its name; an EORI issued in Poland is valid across the EU. The standard Polish import VAT rate is 23%, applied on top of any duty, and is recoverable for VAT-registered businesses through the normal VAT return — Poland also allows eligible importers to account for import VAT directly in the return rather than paying it at the border, which helps cashflow. Goods of preferential UAE origin can clear at a reduced or zero duty rate under the applicable trade arrangement when a valid origin certificate accompanies the shipment, and we arrange this with the UAE exporter where it applies.
For cargo destined onward into other EU countries, or for goods moving under suspension to a bonded warehouse, we use T1 external transit and T2 internal transit procedures so duty and import VAT are settled at the correct point in the chain. For temporary movements — exhibition stock, demonstration equipment, professional tools — an ATA carnet is often the cleanest mechanism, and we prepare and present it for clearance.
Why classification accuracy matters on this corridor
The HS code assigned to your cargo sets the duty rate, the VAT base and any licensing or restriction that applies. A wrong classification can mean delays, back-duties, penalty interest and a compliance record that costs far more than getting it right at the outset would have. We do not guess at classification; we confirm it before the cargo moves and document the reasoning so any later query from Polish customs is answered straight from the file.
Bonded warehousing and staged clearance
For larger UAE shippers, bonded warehouse storage at Gdańsk, Gdynia or Szczecin keeps cargo in customs suspension until the goods are actually needed — useful when the inland customer is not ready, when import VAT cashflow needs managing, or when a consignment will be split across several onward destinations. We coordinate the warehouse, the staged clearance and the inland trucking to Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, Poznań and beyond.
How a commercial shipment runs
- Brief us. What is shipping, its HS classification if known, value, weight and dimensions, the Polish consignee’s EORI, and when it needs to arrive.
- Quote and route. You receive a clear quote with the freight mode, a realistic transit-time range, the customs treatment, the preferential-origin position where applicable, and any transit or bonded options explained.
- Document and book. Polish customs documentation is prepared, the import file is built, origin and any licensing evidence is collected, vessel or aircraft space is booked and the cargo is collected.
- Track to delivery. Your coordinator monitors the consignment through each handover, manages clearance with the Krajowa Administracja Skarbowa, and confirms delivery at the final Polish destination — or onward into the EU under transit.
The same discipline applies whether you are testing the corridor with a single consignment or running regular freight into Poland. For the wider picture of how we manage this route, see our overview of moving to Poland. When you are ready, request a freight quote and we will confirm the right approach for your cargo, the EORI and customs treatment, and any duty or VAT planning that applies.
Common questions about this move
Anything specific to your situation? A specialist for this corridor is happy to help.
Contact usHow long does a move to Poland take?
Transit time depends on the freight mode and the volume. Your coordinator gives you a realistic window when quoting — sea freight is slower and more economical, air freight is faster for time-sensitive moves.
Do you handle customs at both ends?
Yes. Export and import documentation is prepared and submitted on your behalf, and clearance is coordinated at both origin and destination.
Is my shipment insured in transit?
Transit insurance is available on every corridor. Your coordinator explains the cover options when quoting so you can choose what suits the shipment.
How far ahead should I book?
Two to four weeks is comfortable for most international moves, but we regularly handle urgent relocations. The earlier you reach out, the more flexibility you have on dates and freight space.
Will I have one point of contact?
Always — a dedicated coordinator owns your move from first quote to final delivery, including the customs and freight handovers in between.
