Chad is a vast landlocked country bridging Central Africa and the Sahel, and a move there from the UAE is one of the more logistically involved relocations on the map. With no coastline and no direct sea connection, shipments cross an ocean to a Central African port and then travel a long inland route to N’Djamena. Seemleius plans the corridor from start to finish, so the journey is a managed sequence rather than a series of disconnected legs.
The UAE–Chad route is used primarily by oil and energy sector staff, diplomats, UN and NGO personnel, and Chadian nationals returning home. What a route like this demands is realistic planning — long transit times, careful documentation for transit and destination customs, and an inland leg built into the schedule from the outset. That honest, detailed approach is what we bring to every move on the corridor.
Freight routes and customs into Chad
Chad has no seaport. Sea freight from Jebel Ali is shipped to the Port of Douala in Cameroon — the standard gateway for Chad-bound cargo — with the ocean leg typically around 20 to 32 days, sometimes via a transhipment hub. From Douala, goods travel the long Douala–N’Djamena road corridor inland, and the complete door-to-door journey, including border formalities, generally runs eight to fourteen weeks. Air freight from DXB routes via a regional hub into N’Djamena International Airport (NDJ) and is the faster choice for urgent or smaller consignments.
Customs is administered by Chad’s Direction Générale des Douanes et Droits Indirects. Returning residents and new arrivals may claim relief on used personal effects under transfer-of-residence provisions, subject to a detailed inventory, passport and residence or mission documentation. Goods also pass through Cameroonian customs in transit. We prepare the full file in the UAE so the paperwork is consistent at every checkpoint between the coast and N’Djamena.
Corridor freight planned
Sea via Douala, then the long inland road haul to N’Djamena — air via a regional hub when speed is essential.
Customs at every stage
Transfer-of-residence relief, detailed inventories and transit documentation prepared for both the port of entry and Chad’s border.
Long inland leg managed
The Douala–N’Djamena road journey is planned, costed and tracked through to delivery, not left to chance.
One coordinator
A single point of contact owns the move from the UAE survey to delivery in Chad, across every leg and handover.
Who moves on this route
The UAE–Chad corridor serves household relocations — personal effects and furniture for individuals and families — alongside business and institutional moves for energy companies, missions and organisations rotating staff. We also handle commercial freight: oilfield equipment, project supplies and machinery for development and infrastructure work. Each is surveyed and quoted separately, then run through one corridor plan.
Where we deliver
We deliver to Chad’s main population and commercial centres:
- N’Djamena — the capital and largest city, the country’s administrative and commercial heart
- Moundou — the second city and a key industrial and oil-region centre in the south
- Sarh — a major southern city and agricultural hub
- Abéché — the principal city of eastern Chad
- Kelo and Doba — further southern centres, including the heart of the oil-producing region
How your move works
- Survey and quote. We assess volume and contents in the UAE, in person or by video, and return a clear itemised quote with realistic routing and timing for the Chad corridor.
- Document in advance. Routing is confirmed, space is booked, and customs and transit paperwork is prepared and checked before the shipment leaves the UAE.
- Pack and ship. Our crew packs to export standard, builds a full inventory, and dispatches from Jebel Ali or DXB on the agreed route.
- Clear and deliver. We manage the ocean leg, transhipment, inland haulage and border clearance, then coordinate delivery at your address in Chad.
A move to a Sahel destination this far inland needs a plan built on honest timelines. Request a quote and your coordinator will map the UAE–Chad corridor to your move.
