Azerbaijan sits at the crossroads of the Caucasus and the Caspian, with an economy built on energy and a capital, Baku, that has grown into a regional business centre. Relocating a household or a business from the UAE to Azerbaijan is a well-established route, though the country’s only coastline is on the landlocked Caspian Sea, so freight routing needs care. Seemleius manages that on the Dubai–Baku corridor.
The UAE–Azerbaijan route carries energy professionals heading to Baku and the Caspian operations, returning nationals, and companies establishing a Caucasus or Caspian base. We coordinate the freight, the overland or Caspian leg and the customs steps so the move lands predictably.
Freight routes and customs
Azerbaijan’s sea access is via the Port of Baku (Alat) on the Caspian, which connects to international freight overland through Georgia or via Caspian feeder services. Household sea freight from Jebel Ali commonly discharges at Poti or Batumi in Georgia and completes the journey overland to Baku, with container transit from Jebel Ali to the Black Sea ports typically running 20 to 32 days plus the road leg. Air freight from DXB into Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku offers a faster option for urgent or smaller consignments.
Customs is handled by the State Customs Committee. Returning nationals and incoming residents can generally import used personal effects under transfer-of-residence relief, supported by a detailed valued inventory and proof of residency or work status. We prepare the documentation, including any transit paperwork, in advance so the consignment is assessed correctly.
Sea & air freight
Sea via Jebel Ali to Poti or Batumi, then road into Baku — air via DXB into Baku when the timeline is tight.
Azerbaijani customs handled
Transfer-of-residence relief and valued inventories prepared for the State Customs Committee.
Energy-corridor experience
We understand moves tied to oil, gas and Caspian operations and the documentation they require.
One coordinator
A single contact owns the move from the UAE survey to delivery in Azerbaijan — no handover gaps.
Who moves this route
The corridor serves the full range. Household relocations cover energy professionals and returning nationals moving full furniture loads. Business and office moves include companies establishing Baku operations and transferring records, IT and workstations. Commercial freight covers project cargo and equipment for the energy and industrial sectors.
Where we deliver
We deliver across Azerbaijan’s major cities:
- Baku — the capital, economic centre and main point of entry
- Ganja — the second city, in the west
- Sumqayit — an industrial city on the Caspian near Baku
- Mingachevir — a regional centre on the Kura river
- Lankaran — a southern city near the Iranian border
- Shaki — a historic city in the north-west
How your move works
- Survey and quote. We assess volume and contents in the UAE, in person or by video, and return a clear itemised quote with the routing explained.
- Document in advance. Dates are confirmed, freight space is booked, and Azerbaijani customs and transit paperwork is prepared and verified before departure.
- Pack and ship. Our crew packs to export standard, builds a full inventory and dispatches from Jebel Ali or DXB.
- Clear and deliver. We manage the port, the overland leg, Azerbaijani clearance and delivery, unpacking and reassembly at your address.
Whether you are an energy professional, a returning national or a company opening a Baku base, the UAE–Azerbaijan corridor is well covered. Request a quote and your coordinator will set out the plan.
