Somalia is reached primarily by sea through Mogadishu and the northern port of Berbera, and by air into the main cities. Freight routes and customs

Sea freight departs Jebel Ali for the Port of Mogadishu or the Port of Berbera, depending on the destination region, sometimes routed via a regional transhipment hub. Transit typically runs three to six weeks depending on the service and port. Air freight from DXB into Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu, or into Hargeisa, is the faster option, generally clearing within one to three weeks and suiting smaller or urgent consignments.

Customs is handled by the relevant customs authorities at the port of entry. Returning residents and incoming households can generally seek relief on used personal and household effects, supported by a detailed inventory, passport and proof of the move. New goods, vehicles and commercial cargo are assessed separately. We prepare and verify the declaration in advance and confirm the requirements for the chosen port before the shipment sails.
