The short road run from the UAE can create a false sense of informality; requirements are requirements regardless of the distance. Bringing your pet to the Sultanate

Oman’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth and Water Resources is the authority that issues the pet import permit, and the conditions are well defined. The animal must be microchipped to ISO 11784/11785 standard; the rabies vaccination must be administered at least 30 days before travel and not more than 12 months earlier; and an official UAE veterinary health certificate, endorsed by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, must accompany the animal at the border. Certain breeds — specific dog breeds in particular — are restricted or prohibited, and the breed list changes from time to time; we work from the current published rules rather than assumptions based on past experience.

The road crossing to Oman via Hatta or Mezyad is well suited to pet transport when the documentation is in order — the journey is short enough that a pet does not need to overnight in transit. Moving your vehicle to Oman

For vehicles, the road corridor has an obvious appeal — why ship a car when it can be driven? In practice, however, driving a UAE-registered vehicle across the border and leaving it in Oman is not a straightforward proposition. The vehicle needs to be properly imported and registered: UAE de-registration or export documentation, Oman customs declaration through Bayan, import duty assessed on the vehicle’s value, and compliance with Oman’s Royal Oman Police vehicle registration requirements before it can be driven legally on Oman plates.

The good news for UAE movers is that vehicles supplied through GCC dealer channels are GCC-spec by construction — right-hand-drive layout, hot-climate specification, GCC service history — and clear into Oman without the specification disputes that come up on imports from outside the region. We verify the GCC-spec status against the chassis number before shipment and arrange transit plates where the vehicle needs to be driven on Oman roads ahead of full ROP registration.
