Vanuatu is an archipelago of some eighty islands in the South Pacific, a scattered nation with its main gateway at Port Vila on the island of Efate. Moving there from the UAE is a long-haul, hub-routed corridor — the kind of move where the schedule depends on Pacific feeder services and careful sequencing matters. Seemleius plans the Dubai–Vanuatu route from start to finish, so a shipment crossing the world arrives intact and on a timeline you can trust.

The UAE–Vanuatu corridor is a specialist one. It carries professionals joining government, tourism and development roles, families relocating to Port Vila, returning ni-Vanuatu, and occasional commercial consignments supporting construction and the islands’ growing economy. There is no direct freight link, so every move is built around a regional transhipment hub, and knowing how to time that connection is central to the job.

Freight routes & customs

Sea freight from Jebel Ali does not run direct to Vanuatu. Containers are shipped to a regional hub — commonly in Australia or New Zealand, or via Fiji — and transhipped onto a Pacific feeder service into Port Vila, the principal port. Door-to-door transit typically runs around seven to ten weeks, as feeder sailings are infrequent. Air freight from DXB routes via an Australian or Fijian hub into Bauerfield International Airport at Port Vila, suitable for small, urgent consignments only.

Customs is administered by the Department of Customs and Inland Revenue. Returning residents and citizens may import used personal and household effects with concessional treatment where the goods have been owned and used abroad and are presented with a detailed inventory and passport evidence. We prepare the declaration carefully and confirm treatment before the shipment leaves the UAE.

Hub-routed freight

Sea via Jebel Ali transhipped through an Australasian or Fijian hub to Port Vila — air via a hub for urgent items.

Customs prepared

Department of Customs and Inland Revenue documentation and used-goods concessions arranged before departure.

Realistic scheduling

Pacific feeder sailings are infrequent; we plan around the actual service calendar, not optimistic estimates.

One coordinator

A single point of contact owns the move from the UAE survey through every transhipment leg to delivery.

Who moves this route

The corridor is narrow but varied. Household relocations are the most common — families and individuals settling in Port Vila for work or a return home. Business and office moves are smaller in scale, typically equipment and records for organisations working in tourism, government or development. Commercial freight appears occasionally, supporting construction projects. This single page serves all three; the routing through the Pacific hub is common to each.

Where we deliver

Vanuatu’s population is spread across many islands, with most arrivals landing through the capital:

  • Port Vila — the capital on Efate, the main port of entry and the commercial and administrative centre
  • Luganville — the second town, on the island of Espiritu Santo, with its own secondary port
  • Efate — the main island, with delivery to communities beyond the capital
  • Espiritu Santo and Tanna — outer islands reached by domestic shipping

Deliveries beyond Port Vila depend on inter-island shipping, which we factor into the plan from the outset.

How your move works

  1. Survey and quote. We assess volume and contents in the UAE, in person or by video, and return a clear itemised quote with the hub routing explained.
  2. Document in advance. Sailing space is booked, the transhipment leg is confirmed, and Vanuatu customs paperwork is prepared before departure.
  3. Pack and ship. Our crew packs to export standard for a long ocean transit, builds a full inventory, and dispatches from Jebel Ali or DXB.
  4. Tranship and deliver. We track the consignment through the Pacific hub, manage clearance at Port Vila, and coordinate final delivery and unpacking.

A move to Vanuatu rewards early planning. Tell us your dates and contents — request a quote and your coordinator will map the corridor for you.
