Freight routes and Mongolian customs

Sea freight leaves Jebel Ali for a northern Chinese port — typically Tianjin — followed by rail transport across the border at Erlian and on to Ulaanbaatar, the country’s rail and logistics hub. Total transit is long, commonly running two to three months door to door, and is the cost-effective choice for full household volumes. Air freight from DXB connects via an Asian hub into Chinggis Khaan International Airport at Ulaanbaatar, used for urgent or smaller consignments.

Mongolian customs is administered by the Mongolian Customs General Administration. Individuals transferring their residence to Mongolia can import used personal effects and household goods with relief from import duties, subject to prior ownership and use and to proof of the residence change and a residence or work permit. A detailed, valued inventory is required. We prepare the customs file and transfer-of-residence documentation before the shipment leaves the UAE.
