Moving from the UAE to Ghana connects the Gulf with one of West Africa’s most stable and commercially active economies. Ghana has modern deepwater ports and a busy international airport, and the UAE–Ghana corridor sees steady traffic in both household and commercial freight. A move on this route runs smoothly when the freight routing and Ghanaian customs documentation are handled properly — and that preparation is the work Seemleius takes on.

The UAE–Ghana route carries returning Ghanaian nationals, professionals joining roles in energy, mining, finance and development around Accra, and businesses shipping equipment and stock into a growing market. We know the corridor in detail — the sailings from Jebel Ali to Tema, the air links from DXB to Accra, and the documentation Ghana’s customs authority expects to see.

Freight routes & customs

Sea freight is the main mode for household and commercial volumes. Containers leave Jebel Ali for the Port of Tema, the modern deepwater port serving Accra, or for Takoradi in the west; sailings often route via a transhipment hub, so realistic transit times sit in the range of four to six weeks. Air freight runs from Dubai International (DXB) to Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra, well served and suited to urgent or compact shipments.

Customs is handled by the Ghana Revenue Authority Customs Division. Imported personal effects require a detailed inventory, passport and residence or work-permit documentation, a values declaration, and processing through Ghana’s electronic clearance system. Returning residents and those relocating may be eligible for relief on used household goods under transfer-of-residence provisions, assessed on the supporting paperwork. We prepare the full set in the UAE so clearance at Tema is efficient.

One coordinator

A single point of contact owns the move from the UAE survey to delivery in Ghana — no handover gaps.

Who moves this route

This single page serves the whole UAE–Ghana corridor. Households relocate complete home contents, whether returning home or arriving for a posting. Businesses and offices ship furniture, IT and equipment when establishing a Ghanaian operation. Commercial freight clients move machinery, stock and project cargo, often tied to the energy and resource sectors. The routing is shared; the preparation suits each move.

Where we deliver

We coordinate delivery to Ghana’s major cities and regions:

  • Accra — the capital and primary destination, the political and commercial heart
  • Tema — the deepwater port city and industrial centre east of Accra
  • Kumasi — the second city and the cultural capital of the Ashanti region
  • Takoradi — the western port city, a hub for the oil and gas sector
  • Tamale and Cape Coast — the major northern city and a historic coastal centre

How your move works

  1. Survey and quote. We assess volume and contents — in person in the UAE or by video — and return a clear, itemised quote with routing explained.
  2. Document in advance. Sailing or flight space is booked and the Ghanaian customs paperwork is prepared and checked before departure.
  3. Pack and ship. Our crew packs to export standard, builds a full inventory, and dispatches from Jebel Ali or DXB.
  4. Clear and deliver. We manage clearance with the Ghana Revenue Authority at Tema and coordinate onward delivery and unpacking at your address.

Whether you are moving a household, an office or commercial cargo from the UAE to Ghana, the corridor is well established and manageable with the right planning. Request a quote and your coordinator will map the move from start to finish.
