Commercial Cargo & Freight to France
Commercial cargo and freight from the UAE to France — sea and air freight into the EU, with French customs handled from start to finish.
France is a gateway into Europe and one of the world’s largest consumer markets. For businesses shipping commercial cargo from the UAE — whether it is retail stock, industrial equipment, luxury goods or consolidated pallets — the French point of entry offers access to the EU as a whole. What it also offers is a customs environment that expects documentation to be complete, accurate and consistent with what is physically in the shipment. Seemleius commercial cargo and freight is organised around meeting that expectation every time.
Freight into France, from start to finish
We arrange and coordinate sea and air freight from the UAE into France for commercial consignments of all types. The mode is chosen for your cargo and your deadline — sea for cost-efficiency on volume, air for speed when the schedule demands it. Sea routings from Jebel Ali into Le Havre typically take 22–25 days; Marseille and Fos-sur-Mer come in around 20 days and suit cargo destined for the south or for onward distribution into Italy and Spain. Air freight from DXB into CDG, ORY, LYS, NCE or MRS clears the corridor in around seven hours plus terminal handling. At the French end, onward road delivery extends to any commercial address in the country.
French customs: the working detail
Commercial cargo into France clears through the Douane on the DELT'A platform — the dematerialised customs declaration system that handles imports, exports and EU transit. The pre-arrival picture for every shipment includes ICS2 advance security data submitted before the cargo leaves the UAE; an EORI number registered for the importing entity (we will register one if you do not already have it); and the right tariff classification, valuation and origin treatment so French VAT at 20% is correctly assessed. Where the goods are moving onward inside the EU under a duty-suspended status, T1 (external Union transit) or T2 (internal Union transit) procedures apply and a bonded warehouse at Le Havre or Marseille can be used to hold the cargo while the onward customs treatment is finalised. ATA carnet entries handle temporary admissions — trade shows, samples, professional equipment — and we prepare these where the cargo is going in and coming back out.
Packing, palletisation and the regulations behind them
Wooden packing material entering the EU must comply with ISPM-15 — heat-treated or fumigated and stamped accordingly. We use compliant pallets and crating as a default and reject anything that turns up at our UAE warehouse without the right marking; non-compliant timber can be refused at the French port and the cost of remediation is not small. Palletisation is planned to maximise truck and container fill while keeping the cargo stable through sea transit; for high-value or fragile loads we build custom timber crates or use shock-monitor labels. Documentation includes a packing list cross-referenced to commercial invoice line items, so when the French customs officer opens a carton the description on the page matches what is in front of them.
Sea freight
Cost-effective for bulk, palletised and full-container commercial cargo — Jebel Ali to Le Havre ~22–25 days, to Marseille or Fos-sur-Mer ~20 days. Consolidated loads for smaller consignments.
Air freight
When the commercial timeline is tight or the cargo is high-value — DXB into CDG, ORY, LYS, NCE or MRS in around seven hours, with same-day pickup and next-day delivery achievable on priority routes.
French and EU customs
DELT'A entries on the Douane platform, ICS2 advance security, EORI registration, HS classification and valuation checked before the cargo moves. French VAT 20%; T1/T2 transit where the goods are continuing inside the EU.
Onward road delivery
From the French port or airport to the final commercial address — Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux or any destination in France — with bonded warehouse holding at Le Havre or Marseille where the onward treatment requires it.
Cargo types we move regularly on this corridor
- Retail and fashion stock bound for French distribution centres or boutiques — including high-value luxury consignments where chain of custody matters
- Industrial and manufacturing equipment for French production facilities — palletised on ISPM-15 timber, crated where the load demands it
- Luxury goods — where declared value accuracy, the right HS code and careful handling are all non-negotiable
- Food and agricultural products — subject to French and EU health and safety regulations we navigate for you, including SPS controls and temperature-controlled freight where required
- Consolidated groupage consignments for businesses shipping smaller volumes regularly — we build the manifest so multiple consignors share a single French clearance
- Trade-show and exhibition cargo on ATA carnet — temporary admission in, return shipment out, all closed out cleanly
How a commercial shipment runs
- Brief us. What is shipping — description, HS code if known, value, weight, dimensions and Incoterm — and when it needs to arrive in France.
- Quote and route. You receive a clear quote with the freight mode, port pair (Le Havre, Marseille, Fos-sur-Mer), realistic transit time and the French customs treatment explained, including VAT exposure and any T1/T2 transit option.
- Document and book. French import documentation is prepared and verified, EORI confirmed, ICS2 lodged, DELT'A entry built; space is booked and the cargo collected from the UAE.
- Track to delivery. Your coordinator monitors the shipment through each handover, manages customs clearance in France, and confirms delivery at the commercial address — with bonded storage in between where the timeline calls for it.
From a one-off consignment to a recurring freight programme into France, we document and route it properly. Request a freight quote and we will confirm the right approach for your cargo and timeline.
Common questions about this move
Anything specific to your situation? A specialist for this corridor is happy to help.
Contact usHow long does a move to France take?
Transit time depends on the freight mode and the volume. Your coordinator gives you a realistic window when quoting — sea freight is slower and more economical, air freight is faster for time-sensitive moves.
Do you handle customs at both ends?
Yes. Export and import documentation is prepared and submitted on your behalf, and clearance is coordinated at both origin and destination.
Is my shipment insured in transit?
Transit insurance is available on every corridor. Your coordinator explains the cover options when quoting so you can choose what suits the shipment.
How far ahead should I book?
Two to four weeks is comfortable for most international moves, but we regularly handle urgent relocations. The earlier you reach out, the more flexibility you have on dates and freight space.
Will I have one point of contact?
Always — a dedicated coordinator owns your move from first quote to final delivery, including the customs and freight handovers in between.
