The Dominican Republic is the Caribbean’s largest economy and a magnet for relocations — families and retirees drawn to its coasts, remote professionals choosing a Caribbean base, and businesses tapping a growing tourism and services market. The UAE–Dominican Republic corridor carries all of these, and Seemleius coordinates the move from the UAE survey through to delivery on the island.

It is a long route, crossing the Atlantic, but the Dominican Republic is comparatively well connected for a Caribbean destination, with sizeable ports and busy international airports. We plan the corridor around its real timelines and prepare the customs side carefully so the shipment lands cleanly.

Freight routes & customs

The Strait of Hormuz has been closed to commercial shipping since February 2026, so sea freight is trucked to a port outside it, such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the UAE’s east coast or Sohar in Oman, and routes via a transhipment hub before arriving at one of the country’s main container ports — Caucedo near Santo Domingo, or Haina — with onward road delivery from there. Routing and dates are confirmed at the survey, and sea is the cost-effective choice for full household volumes. Air freight from DXB connects through a European or US gateway into Las Américas International Airport (SDQ) at Santo Domingo or Punta Cana International (PUJ) for urgent or smaller consignments.

Customs is administered by the Dirección General de Aduanas (DGA). Returning citizens and new residents may import used household goods with relief from import duties under transfer-of-residence provisions, subject to a detailed inventory, proof of prior ownership and residence documentation. The DGA reviews valuation and documentation closely. We prepare and verify every document before the shipment sails.

Sea & air freight

Sea via a transhipment hub into Caucedo or Haina for full households — air through DXB into Santo Domingo (SDQ) or Punta Cana (PUJ) when time is short.

DGA customs handled

Dirección General de Aduanas clearance, transfer-of-residence relief on used goods and valuation documentation prepared in advance.

Routing set out clearly

A long Caribbean corridor, with routing and dates confirmed at the survey — we explain the transhipment routing clearly.

One coordinator

A single point of contact owns the move from the UAE survey to the Dominican delivery — no gaps between vendors.

Who moves this route

The corridor serves household relocations — families and retirees settling along the coast or in the capital, with full packing, shipping and delivery. It also carries business and office moves for companies entering the tourism and services sectors, and commercial freight where equipment, stock or fittings travel alongside the team. Your coordinator scopes the approach that fits each one.

Where we deliver

We deliver across the Dominican Republic’s main destinations and their surrounding regions:

  • Santo Domingo — the capital and largest city, the focus of most arrivals
  • Santiago de los Caballeros — the second city and commercial hub of the interior Cibao valley
  • Punta Cana — the eastern tourism centre and a popular relocation destination
  • Puerto Plata — the northern coastal city and resort region
  • La Romana — an eastern city and resort area
  • San Pedro de Macorís — an eastern port and industrial city

How your move works

  1. Survey and quote. We assess volume and contents in the UAE, in person or by video, and return a clear, itemised quote with freight options explained.
  2. Document in advance. Dates are confirmed, space is booked, and Dominican customs paperwork is prepared and verified before the shipment leaves the UAE.
  3. Pack and ship. Our crew packs to export standard, builds a full inventory, and sends it by sea or air on the booked route.
  4. Clear and deliver. Our destination partner handles clearance at the Dominican point of entry and coordinates onward delivery, unpacking and reassembly at your address.

The Dubai–Dominican Republic corridor is long but well established. Request a quote and your coordinator will map the route, the timeline and the paperwork around your relocation.
