One coordinator from Dubai to your door in Thailand

Moving your home to Thailand takes a Dubai team at one end and Thai movers at the other. As movers to Thailand, Seemleius gives you both under one coordinator: we survey and pack your home in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, prepare the export and Thai Customs paperwork, and our destination partner clears and delivers it in Bangkok, Phuket or wherever you settle.

Seemleius Mobility and Cargo L.L.C is based in Dubai Investment Park. We move Thai families returning home and foreign residents relocating to Thailand.

What our Thailand moving service includes

One fixed, itemised quote covers:

  • A 100% free in-home or video survey anywhere in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah.
  • Export packing by trained crews, crating for fragile items and art, and furniture dismantling and reassembly.
  • An itemised packing list and the export documents, prepared in Dubai.
  • The Application for Duty Exemption and the draft Import Declaration, prepared with you.
  • Sea freight in a full or shared container, depending on volume, and air freight for essentials.
  • Customs clearance in Thailand with our destination partner.
  • Delivery, placement and unpacking at your new home.
  • Transit insurance available (terms confirmed with your quote).
  • Storage in Dubai, short or long term, if your dates don't line up.

Thai Customs rules for household effects

Thai and non-Thai residents changing residence into Thailand can bring used household effects in reasonable quantities free of duties and taxes, if they owned, possessed and used them abroad before the move. Thai returnees must show they lived abroad for at least one year; non-Thais must show their residence status as Customs sets out. Goods imported for commercial purposes do not qualify.

Two rules shape every move:

  • The arrival window: the goods must arrive no earlier than 1 month before you and no later than 6 months after you. Customs may extend this in exceptional cases.
  • One of each appliance: only one of each electrical appliance is duty-free, or two for a family move. Customs names televisions, refrigerators and air-conditioners as household effects; extra units are taxed.

The documents are a draft Import Declaration, your passport, proof of change of residence, the bill of lading, the invoice and packing list (if any), permits for restricted goods, the Application for Duty Exemption and, if used, a power of attorney. The application is filed with the Duty Exemption and Investment Promotion Sub-Division, Central Service Division of Bangkok Port Customs Office, or at the port of entry. Customs reviews it and charges normal duty on anything not exempt; the Import Declaration is then lodged, any tax paid and the goods cleared.

Restricted items need a permit:

  • Buddha images, artefacts and antiques: Fine Arts Department;
  • food, medicine, cosmetics and supplements: FDA;
  • plants: Department of Agriculture; live animals: Department of Livestock Development;
  • cigarettes, tobacco and alcohol: Excise Department;
  • radio and telecom equipment: NBTC;
  • guns: Department of Provincial Administration; vehicle parts: Ministry of Industry.

Prohibited outright: baraku (shisha), e-cigarettes and heat-not-burn tobacco products, along with narcotics, pornography, counterfeit goods, fake currency and protected or CITES-listed wildlife. Customs guidance also lists motor vehicles and parts, and firearms and ammunition, as taxable.

Ask any relocation company for Thailand how it will keep your shipment inside the arrival window. We prepare the packing list, the Application for Duty Exemption and the draft Import Declaration with you, and our destination partner files them and clears the goods. You provide your passport, proof of change of residence and any permits. Official charges are listed in your quote.

Routes and transit times to Thailand

Since 28 February 2026 the Strait of Hormuz has been effectively closed to commercial shipping, so UAE containers go by road to a port outside the strait, such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the east coast or Sohar in Oman, and sail from there. Schedules are longer and less predictable than before.

Laem Chabang, 130 km south of Bangkok, is Thailand's largest port. We confirm your routing and door-to-door dates at the survey.

Plan the dates around the customs window: the goods must arrive between 1 month before and 6 months after you. For clothes and essentials you need on arrival, air freight is the faster option.

How our Thailand relocation services run

  • Survey: a coordinator visits your home, counts appliances and checks permit items.
  • Fixed quote: every service itemised, with the transit insurance terms.
  • Packing day: crews dismantle, wrap and crate, and list every box.
  • Departure: your container goes by road to the port and sails on a routing timed for the arrival window.
  • Arrival and clearance: our destination partner files the Application for Duty Exemption and the Import Declaration and clears the goods.
  • Delivery: furniture placed and reassembled, boxes unpacked.

Where we deliver: Bangkok, Phuket and beyond

We deliver to homes across Thailand, including Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Hua Hin. Bangkok Port's Customs Office handles household duty-exemption applications.

Our moving service to Bangkok includes delivery, placement, reassembly and unpacking by our destination partner, whether you are moving into a condominium or a house. For a moving service to Phuket, Chiang Mai or anywhere outside the capital, your coordinator confirms the arrival port and the road leg at the survey.

We also ask about the new address: lift booking and loading access for a condominium, parking for the truck and any building rules, so the delivery crew arrives prepared.

Pets and cars

Pets and vehicles are moved as separate services with their own paperwork: see pet relocation and vehicle shipping. Live animals need a permit from the Department of Livestock Development, and Customs guidance lists motor vehicles and parts as taxable.

Storage in Dubai

If you leave Dubai well before you arrive in Thailand, we keep your goods in storage in Dubai, short or long term, and ship them to fit the arrival window.

Book your free in-home survey

A coordinator visits your home in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, goes through each room with you and notes what goes by sea, by air, into storage or nowhere at all. We count appliances against the duty-free limit and check your dates against the arrival window, so both are settled before anything is packed.

The survey is 100% free with no obligation, and your fixed, itemised quote follows.

Book through the form on this page or our quote page, or call or WhatsApp +971 56 899 2011.

Questions about moving to Thailand from Dubai

Anything specific to your situation? A specialist for this corridor is happy to help.

Contact us
When can my shipment arrive in Thailand?

For the duty exemption, no earlier than 1 month before you arrive and no later than 6 months after. Customs may extend this in exceptional cases. If you leave Dubai well before your arrival date, we can hold your goods in storage in Dubai and ship them to fit the window.

Which appliances are duty-free?

One of each electrical appliance, or two for a family move. Customs names televisions, refrigerators and air-conditioners as household effects, and extra units are taxed. We count appliances at the survey so there are no surprises at clearance.

Can I bring my shisha or vape?

No. Baraku (shisha), e-cigarettes and heat-not-burn tobacco products are absolutely prohibited imports under a 2014 Commerce Ministry notification that is still in force. Leave them out of the shipment.

Do I need permits for food, medicine or antiques?

Yes. Food, medicine, cosmetics and supplements need FDA permission, and Buddha images, artefacts and antiques need a permit from the Fine Arts Department. Permits for restricted goods are part of the clearance documents, so arrange them before the goods ship.

Do I need to hire movers in Thailand as well?

No. You won't need a separate moving company in Bangkok, Phuket or anywhere else: our destination partner in Thailand clears your goods and delivers them as part of the same quote, and your coordinator in Dubai stays your contact throughout.

How long does a move to Thailand take?

Since the Strait of Hormuz was effectively closed to commercial shipping on 28 February 2026, containers go by road to a port outside the strait, such as Khor Fakkan on the UAE's east coast or Sohar in Oman, before sailing, and schedules are longer and less predictable than before. We confirm your routing and door-to-door dates at the survey and time the shipment to arrive within the customs window, between 1 month before and 6 months after you. Air freight suits the essentials you need first.

How much does a move to Thailand cost?

It depends on the volume of your home, sea or air, a full or shared container, crating, access at both ends, storage and insurance, plus duty on anything outside the exemption, such as extra appliances. The free in-home survey gives you a fixed, itemised quote.
