From Dubai or Abu Dhabi to Oman by road
Need movers from Dubai or Abu Dhabi to Oman who will pack your home and unpack it in Muscat? Seemleius runs the whole move by road, about 420 km from our base in Dubai Investment Park to Muscat through the Hatta–Al Wajajah border, with one coordinator from the survey to the last box.
We move families and professionals with a full home to Muscat, Sohar or elsewhere in Oman. The English inventory Oman customs needs, the UAE export documents and the land manifest are prepared in Dubai, all within one fixed quote.

Oman customs rules for household goods
Oman Customs requires personal effects and household items to be of a personal nature, in non-commercial quantities and from your country of residence, which for this move is the UAE. Under GCC customs law, the used household goods of foreigners arriving for the first time to reside are exempt from duty; whether a move from the UAE counts as a first arrival is for customs to decide, so we check your case at the survey rather than promise a duty-free result.
- From you: a passport copy including your Oman visa page, both sides of your ROP residence card, a signed authorisation letter for the clearing agent, and an Omani mobile number, which the agent needs for Oman's Bayan customs system.
- From us: the detailed English inventory, the UAE export documents and the land manifest, and clearance with our destination partner.
- Inspection: every shipment is inspected in full, so the inventory can't carry "PBO" (packed by owner) entries. Boxes you pack yourself still need their contents listed.
- Wooden crates: any wood packing must carry the ISPM-15 stamp.
Do not pack: alcohol, which is not accepted in removal goods even though non-Muslim travellers have a duty-free allowance; drugs; weapons, including toy guns; walkie-talkies; e-cigarettes; pornography; Israeli-origin products; and perishable food. A drone needs a Royal Oman Police import permit, approved before the goods leave the UAE, with one permit per import. Political and religious literature needs Ministry of Information approval, and medicines are allowed in reasonable quantities but may be analysed.
The road to Muscat: Hatta, Al Wajajah and Khatmat Malaha
The Dubai–Muscat road crosses at Hatta on the UAE side and Al Wajajah on the Omani side, about 420 km from our base to Muscat. On the east coast, the Khatmat Malaha crossing near Kalba, which Sharjah Customs lists as open to road freight 24/7, is about 70 km from Sohar Port. There are other crossings, including Mezyad–Hafeet near Al Ain; which one your truck uses depends on your addresses and border conditions, and is confirmed at your survey.
Crossing times vary. A May 2026 freight update described Hatta–Al Wajajah as congested, with an estimated 24–48 hours for a truck to cross, against 12–24 hours at Khatmat Malaha. Loading and delivery dates are confirmed at your survey.
Road moves don't pass through the Strait of Hormuz, so its closure to commercial shipping since 28 February 2026 doesn't block them, although the borders have been busier.
How your move to Oman runs
Every household move from the UAE to Oman follows the same six steps:
- Survey: a coordinator visits your home and lists what's moving, room by room.
- Fixed quote: you receive a fixed, itemised quote and the list of documents Oman customs needs.
- Packing day: the crew packs, crates and dismantles, writes the English inventory and loads the truck.
- Departure: the export documents are completed and the truck heads for the border.
- Arrival and clearance: the shipment is inspected and cleared with our destination partner.
- Delivery: we deliver around Muscat's truck restrictions, reassemble the furniture and unpack.
Movers and packers in Muscat: where we deliver
In Muscat we deliver across the city, including Al Mouj, Al Khuwair, Qurum, Shatti Al Qurum, Madinat Sultan Qaboos, Bausher and Muscat Hills. Outside the capital we deliver to Sohar, Nizwa, Sur and Salalah; give us the address at the survey and we'll plan the route.
In Muscat, movers have to plan around truck restrictions: Royal Oman Police limit trucks on the city's main roads at set times, and the hours change, for example during Ramadan. We plan your delivery around the rules in force on the day.
If your building or compound has move-in rules, such as booked hours or a service lift, send them to your coordinator before delivery day.
Cars and pets
Pets and vehicles are moved as separate services, planned alongside your household: see pet relocation and vehicle shipping.
Storage in Dubai
If your new home in Oman isn't ready on moving day, or your residence card and Omani number are still being arranged, we can keep your household in storage in Dubai, short or long term, and deliver when you're ready.
Book your free home survey
The survey is 100% free, with no obligation. A coordinator walks through your home in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, notes the volume, the fragile pieces and the access at both ends, and flags anything that needs a permit, such as a drone. You then get a fixed, itemised quote. If you're also talking to packers and movers in Oman, it gives you a like-for-like quote to compare.
Book through the quote form on this page or at seemleius.com/get-quote, or call or WhatsApp +971 56 899 2011.

Questions about moving to Oman from Dubai
Anything specific to your situation? A specialist for this corridor is happy to help.
Contact usAre you based in Dubai or in Muscat?
In Dubai, at Dubai Investment Park. We pack and load at your home in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, and deliver and unpack at your new home in Muscat, with customs clearance handled with our destination partner. You don't need to hire movers and packers in Oman as well.
Are household goods duty-free when moving to Oman?
Oman requires household goods to be personal, in non-commercial quantities and from your country of residence, and GCC customs law exempts the used household goods of foreigners arriving for the first time to reside. Whether a move from the UAE counts as a first arrival is decided by customs, so we check your case at the survey instead of promising a duty-free result.
How long does the road move from Dubai to Muscat take?
Dates are confirmed at your survey rather than quoted as a standard number of days. Muscat is about 420 km from our base through Hatta–Al Wajajah, which a May 2026 freight update described as congested, with an estimated 24–48 hours for a truck to cross. The same update estimated 12–24 hours at Khatmat Malaha.
Why does Oman customs need such a detailed inventory?
Because every household shipment is inspected in full. The inventory has to be in English and itemised, with no "PBO" (packed by owner) entries, so anything you pack yourself still needs its contents listed. Our crew writes the inventory on packing day.
Can I pack alcohol or a drone for Oman?
Alcohol, no: it is not accepted in removal goods, even though non-Muslim travellers have a duty-free allowance. A drone, yes, with a Royal Oman Police import permit approved before the goods leave the UAE; each permit covers one import. Tell us about it at the survey so the timing works.
Do I need an Omani phone number before my goods arrive?
Yes. The clearing agent uses Oman's Bayan customs system, which needs an Omani mobile number, and you'll also need both sides of your ROP residence card and a passport copy including your Oman visa page. If they aren't ready yet, we can hold your goods in storage in Dubai.
How much do movers from Dubai to Oman charge?
It depends on the volume of your household, where in Oman you're moving to, access at both homes such as floors, lifts and parking, how much packing and crating you need, and whether you add storage or transit insurance. The free survey measures all of this, and you then get a fixed, itemised quote with no obligation.
