Moving from Dubai to the Netherlands, door to door
If you are moving your household from Dubai or Abu Dhabi, Seemleius handles the whole move as your international movers to the Netherlands. We survey and pack your home in the UAE, prepare the export papers and the signed inventory for Dutch Customs, ship your belongings to Rotterdam and deliver them to your new address, from an Amsterdam apartment to a family home in Eindhoven.
We are based in Dubai Investment Park. One coordinator runs your move from survey to unpacking, and our destination partner files the customs declaration and delivers at the Dutch end.
What's included in your move to the Netherlands
Your fixed, itemised quote shows every service before you book. A full household move includes:
- A free in-home or video survey anywhere in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah.
- Export packing by trained crews, crates for fragile items and art, and furniture dismantled and reassembled.
- UAE export documents and the signed inventory Dutch Customs needs.
- Sea freight in a full or shared container, depending on volume, and air freight for the things you need first.
- The import declaration filed with Dutch Customs by our partner in the Netherlands, and clearance at the port.
- Delivery, placement room by room and unpacking.
- Transit insurance available (terms confirmed with your quote).
- Storage in Dubai, short or long term, if your Dutch home is not ready yet.
Dutch customs: removal goods free of import taxes
If you move your normal residence from outside the EU to the Netherlands, your removal goods can come in free of import taxes. The conditions:
- You have lived outside the EU for at least 12 consecutive months.
- You have had and used the goods for at least 6 months.
- You import them within 12 months of settling, in one or more consignments.
- Your new normal residence is in the Netherlands.
No separate form for you. You cannot file the declaration yourself: the moving company lodges it with Dutch Customs, in Customs' DMS system. What Customs needs from you is a signed inventory of all your personal goods, which we prepare for you to sign, and proof that you live in the Netherlands.
Proof of residence: preferably your municipal registration, which shows the date you settled. Without it, Customs accepts proof of deregistration from the country you are leaving plus one of these: an employment contract, an employer's statement, a work permit, or a rental or purchase contract. Missing documents can sometimes follow after the filing has started.
Arriving before you settle? The goods can be cleared first if you commit to settling within 6 months, and Customs can ask for a security.
Not covered: alcohol, tobacco, commercial vehicles and professional equipment other than portable instruments. For 12 months after import, the goods cannot be lent, pledged, rented out or transferred. Customs also restricts goods such as weapons and ammunition, drugs, medicines, protected species, food and animal products, plants, cultural goods, counterfeits, and cash and gold.
Cars: a private car can be part of the relief when the conditions are met. It gets its own declaration, for which we may ask for copies of the registration and purchase or ownership papers. If it is relieved, you may also be able to ask the Belastingdienst for an exemption from BPM, the Dutch car registration tax.
Shipping to Rotterdam in 2026
Household containers for the Netherlands arrive at Rotterdam, which handles about 428 million tonnes of freight a year, and continue by road to your door.
Since 28 February 2026 the Strait of Hormuz has been effectively closed to commercial shipping. UAE containers now go by road to a port outside the strait, such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the east coast or Sohar in Oman, and sail from there. Schedules are longer and less predictable than before.
As a guide, CMA CGM's September 2026 schedule starts at Duqm in Oman and lists 40 days from Duqm to Rotterdam, port to port; the road and feeder legs from the UAE, clearance and delivery come on top. We confirm the routing and dates at your survey, and air freight can bring the essentials sooner.
How your relocation to Holland runs
- Survey: a coordinator visits your home and lists what is going.
- Fixed quote: itemised, and nothing is booked until you accept it.
- Documents: we prepare the export papers and the inventory for you to sign, and you send us your proof of residence.
- Packing day: crews pack, crate and dismantle, and every item goes on the inventory.
- Departure: by road to the departure port, then by sea to Rotterdam.
- Arrival and clearance: our partner files the declaration and clears the goods.
- Delivery: furniture is placed and reassembled, and your boxes are unpacked.
A moving company for The Hague, Eindhoven and the rest of the country
We deliver to homes across the Netherlands, from Amsterdam and Rotterdam to Utrecht, The Hague and Eindhoven. Before delivery day, our partner checks access at your new address, including parking for the truck, stairs and lifts, and plans the vehicle around your street.
- Amsterdam: the city has its own rules for heavy vehicles, loading near canals, furniture hoists and zero-emission zones. Our Amsterdam relocation page explains them.
- Den Haag (The Hague), Utrecht, Rotterdam and everywhere else: our destination partner delivers, reassembles and unpacks, working to the plan your coordinator agreed with you in Dubai.
Pets and cars
Pets and vehicles travel as separate services, planned alongside your household goods. See pet relocation and vehicle shipping.
Book your free home survey
The survey is 100% free and there is no obligation. A coordinator walks through your home with you, notes what goes by sea, what goes by air and what stays, and explains which documents Dutch Customs will need from you. A fixed, itemised quote follows.
Book through the quote form on this page or at seemleius.com/get-quote, or call or WhatsApp us on +971 56 899 2011.

Questions about moving to the Netherlands from Dubai
Anything specific to your situation? A specialist for this corridor is happy to help.
Contact usWhat should I check when comparing movers to the Netherlands?
Ask any Netherlands movers you are considering to quote from a survey of your home, so the volumes match. Then check who files the Dutch customs declaration, who prepares the signed inventory, what happens on delivery day and the terms of any transit insurance. Our quote is fixed and itemised, and the survey is free with no obligation.
Will I need a Dutch moving company as well?
No. There's no need for a second moving company in the Netherlands: our destination partner files the declaration, clears your goods, delivers them and unpacks, and your coordinator in Dubai manages the whole move.
Is there a customs form I have to fill in?
No separate form. Private individuals cannot file the declaration themselves; the moving company lodges it with Dutch Customs. You sign the inventory we prepare and provide proof of residence, preferably your municipal registration.
Can my goods arrive before I am registered in the Netherlands?
Yes. The goods can be cleared before you settle if you commit to settling within 6 months, and Customs can ask for a security. Without a municipal registration, proof of deregistration from the country you are leaving plus, for example, an employment or rental contract can be used.
Can I bring my car to the Netherlands?
Yes, as a separate service. A private car can be part of the relief when the conditions are met, but it gets its own declaration, and you may then be able to request a BPM exemption from the Belastingdienst. Commercial vehicles are excluded.
How long does shipping from Dubai to Rotterdam take right now?
Longer than before 2026. With the Strait of Hormuz effectively closed since 28 February 2026, containers go by road to a port outside the strait, such as Khor Fakkan, Fujairah or Sohar, and sail from there. We confirm the routing and an estimated delivery window at your survey.
Do you deliver to Eindhoven?
Yes. Whether you need a moving company for Eindhoven, Utrecht or anywhere else in the Netherlands, the plan is the same: the coordinator who oversaw your packing in the UAE also plans the delivery, against the same inventory, and our destination partner delivers and unpacks.
