Moving your home? Movers from Dubai and Abu Dhabi to Canada · Movers to Vancouver from Dubai and Abu Dhabi
A move from the UAE to Canada is rarely spontaneous. Behind it is usually months of paperwork — a permanent residency application under Express Entry, a study permit, a family sponsorship, a Provincial Nominee Programme approval — and by the time the visa lands and the Confirmation of Permanent Residence is in hand, the household has to follow quickly. Seemleius has run this corridor long enough to know that the move itself cannot be the thing that adds pressure to that moment. So we take as much of it off your plate as we can.
Canada is a vast country, and the geography matters from the first conversation. Since the Strait of Hormuz closed to commercial shipping in February 2026, containers go by road to a port outside the strait, such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the UAE’s east coast or Sohar in Oman, and sail from there to Halifax (Atlantic Canada), Montreal or Vancouver (Pacific Canada), with routing and dates confirmed at the survey. From any of those ports, there is still a long onward trucking leg before your container reaches a final address in Toronto, Calgary, Ottawa or further inland. That geography is built into the plan from the first survey, not a surprise at the other end. Air freight to Toronto or Vancouver is far quicker and costs considerably more — useful for what you genuinely need on arrival, expensive for everything.
The UAE–Canada corridor in plain terms
Sea freight is the primary mode on this route. A full household moves more cost-effectively by container than by air, and the multi-week transit is built into the planning so it does not become a problem. Air freight is available for urgent items — the things you need before the sea shipment arrives — and we lay both options out so you choose with real information rather than a sales pitch.
Canadian customs treats household goods brought in by someone settling in Canada as settler’s effects, governed by the CBSA’s BSF186 Personal Effects Accounting Document (formerly Form B4). Goods physically with you on arrival and goods following by sea are declared together, in person at your first point of arrival, with the “goods to follow” listed separately and prepared in advance. Both must reconcile precisely with what arrives. Used personal effects clear duty-free under the settler’s effects provision, but only when the documentation supports the claim — item descriptions, acquisition dates and values that match what is in the boxes. People coming to study, or for employment of 36 months or less, are not settlers for customs purposes.
Key Canadian destinations we serve
Toronto & the GTA
Canada’s largest metropolitan area and a common landing point for UAE-origin moves — family households arriving for PR, finance professionals heading to Bay Street and tech relocations into the corridor between downtown and Markham.
Vancouver & the Lower Mainland
West-coast destination for lifestyle moves, Pacific-corridor immigration and the technology cluster around Burnaby and Surrey, with goods arriving through the Port of Vancouver.
Calgary & Edmonton
Energy-sector destinations and growing professional hubs — inland delivery from either Halifax or Vancouver by long-haul trucking, with the transit built into your move schedule.
Montreal & Ottawa
Eastern hubs for Francophone moves and Quebec immigration programmes, and for federal-sector relocations to the National Capital Region, with strong port access via the St Lawrence River.
What makes a Canada move work
- Survey and freight planning. We assess your volume in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah and return a clear quote with sea and air options explained alongside the planned routing — to Halifax or to Vancouver, with the onward trucking leg costed in.
- Settler’s effects declaration. We help you prepare your BSF186 declaration and your goods-to-follow list to the standard CBSA expects, ready to present in person at your first point of arrival, so the clearance process at the Canadian end does not stall.
- Cold-climate packing. Items are packed for a long sea transit and for Canadian conditions on arrival — condensation control, temperature swing and the handling involved in moving a container across multiple freight legs and provinces.
- Customs and onward delivery. Our destination partner handles Canadian import clearance, and we coordinate the full delivery to your address, including the inland trucking leg from the port of arrival.
Cost drivers on the UAE–Canada route
Pricing on this corridor is shaped by four things. Sea freight carries a long ocean leg, plus the road leg to the departure port, with bunker-fuel surcharges and seasonal capacity tightness on the Pacific routing. Port handling appears at both ends — the departure port at origin, and Halifax, Montreal or Vancouver at destination — with terminal charges that are not always quoted upfront by every mover. Onward inland trucking from the port to your Canadian address is often the unspoken third cost: a delivery into central Toronto from Halifax is straightforward, but a final mile to Edmonton from Vancouver, or to Winnipeg from any port, adds meaningful kilometres and time. And finally, inspection and brokerage fees on the Canadian side — CBSA examinations and agricultural inspections if your goods include wooden furniture — can appear at clearance. We quote all four lines transparently so you can compare like for like, and so the final invoice does not surprise you.
