Moving from Dubai or Abu Dhabi to Ireland
Seemleius is a removal company in Dubai for families moving to Ireland. We survey and pack your home in the UAE, prepare the export papers and your Irish customs claim on form C&E 1076, ship your belongings and deliver them to your new home, from Dublin and Cork to Galway and Limerick.
We are international movers to Ireland, working from Dubai Investment Park. One coordinator runs your move from survey to unpacking, and our destination partner clears customs and delivers at the Irish end.

Irish customs relief: form C&E 1076
If you are moving your normal residence to Ireland from outside the EU, you can import your used personal and household goods without customs duty or VAT. The conditions:
- You have lived outside the EU for at least 12 continuous months.
- You have had and used the goods for at least 6 months, and duty and tax were paid on them in the country where you bought them.
- The goods arrive between 6 months before and 12 months after your move. If they arrive first, you must agree to live in Ireland within 6 months.
- You do not hire out, lend or sell them within 12 months. If you do, the import charges become payable.
The claim: form C&E 1076 is emailed, with your supporting documents, to Revenue's transfer-of-residence mailbox for the arrival port, such as Dublin Port or Cork Port, two weeks before the goods arrive. You or your agent can send it; we prepare it with you and send it for you.
What you provide: proof of your residence abroad, of your move to Ireland, and that you have owned and used the goods. Revenue's examples include receipts showing taxes paid and not refunded, property purchase, rental or lease papers, proof of employment or of its end, and evidence of day-to-day living abroad.
What we prepare: the inventory for the claim. Used clothing and toiletries can be listed as "personal belongings", and items of value need an estimated current market value, which you give us and we record. Revenue may examine the goods, and a large consignment can be examined at your home on written request, at your cost.
Not covered: alcohol and tobacco beyond traveller allowances, trade tools, commercial vehicles and anything imported for commercial reasons. Revenue also prohibits or restricts items including drugs, firearms and other weapons, fireworks and explosives, medicines, endangered species, heritage items, certain foods (mainly meat, milk, fish and their products), and live or dead animals and plants. Cats and dogs are on that list too, and pets travel as a separate service.
Cars: a car needs its own relief from vehicle registration tax (VRT). It must have been owned and used abroad for at least 6 months, be brought in within 12 months and be fully tax and duty paid. Book the NCTS appointment within 7 days of arrival and register the car within 30 days; VRT becomes payable if you sell it within 12 months.
Shipping to Ireland in 2026: ports and timing
Household goods for Ireland arrive by sea at Dublin Port or Cork Port, which both have Revenue transfer-of-residence mailboxes (Rosslare has one too). Deep-sea containers reach Ireland through a European hub: Dublin Port has daily lift-on/lift-off sailings with Rotterdam, weekly links with Antwerp and several connections a day with Liverpool and Zeebrugge.
Since 28 February 2026 the Strait of Hormuz has been effectively closed to commercial shipping. UAE containers now go by road to a port outside the strait, such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the east coast or Sohar in Oman, and sail from there. Schedules are longer and less predictable than before.
As a guide, CMA CGM's September 2026 schedule starts at Duqm in Oman and lists 40 days from Duqm to Rotterdam, port to port; the road and feeder legs from the UAE and the onward sailing to Ireland come on top. We confirm the routing and dates at the survey, and air freight can bring the essentials sooner.
How your move to Ireland runs
- Survey: a coordinator visits your home and lists what is going.
- Fixed quote: itemised, and nothing is booked until you accept it.
- Paperwork: we prepare the export documents and, with you, the customs claim and its inventory.
- Packing day: crews pack, crate and dismantle, and every item goes on the inventory.
- Departure: by road to the departure port, then by sea through a European hub.
- Arrival and clearance: the claim reaches Revenue two weeks before arrival, and our partner clears the goods at the port.
- Delivery: furniture is placed and reassembled, and your boxes are unpacked.
Irish removals from Cork to Donegal
We deliver to homes across the Republic of Ireland. Before delivery day, our partner checks access at your new address, including parking for the truck, stairs and lifts, and plans the vehicle around your street.
- Dublin: lorry permits inside the canal cordon and council parking suspensions both need planning. Our Dublin movers page explains how we handle them.
- Cork: goods can be cleared at Cork Port, which has its own Revenue transfer-of-residence mailbox, and our partner delivers and unpacks.
- Galway, Limerick and Waterford, and the towns and villages in between.
Pets and cars
Pets and vehicles travel as separate services, planned alongside your household goods. See pet relocation and vehicle shipping.
Book your free home survey
The survey is 100% free and there is no obligation. A coordinator walks through your home with you, notes what goes by sea, what goes by air and what stays, and explains the documents Revenue needs. A fixed, itemised quote follows.
Your coordinator prepares the C&E 1076 claim with you and makes sure it reaches Revenue two weeks before your goods arrive.

Questions about moving to Ireland from Dubai
Anything specific to your situation? A specialist for this corridor is happy to help.
Contact usWhat should I compare between moving companies to Ireland?
First, make sure every quote is built on a survey of your home, so the volumes match. Then check what each includes: export packing, form C&E 1076 prepared and sent on time, sea or air freight, clearance, delivery and unpacking in Ireland, and the terms of any transit insurance. Our quote is fixed and itemised, and the survey is free with no obligation.
Do I also need a removal company in Ireland?
No. Our destination partner clears your goods, delivers them and unpacks at the Irish end, and your coordinator in Dubai manages the whole move.
When is form C&E 1076 sent to Revenue?
Two weeks before the goods arrive. It is emailed, with your supporting documents, to Revenue's transfer-of-residence mailbox for the arrival port, such as Dublin Port or Cork Port. The goods themselves can arrive from 6 months before to 12 months after your move.
Can I bring my car to Ireland from Dubai?
Yes, as a separate service. The car needs its own VRT relief and must be registered within 30 days of arrival. It must have been owned and used abroad for at least 6 months and be fully tax and duty paid, and VRT becomes payable if you sell it within 12 months.
Is furniture removal to Ireland from Dubai worth it?
For good furniture you would otherwise replace, usually yes: under transfer-of-residence relief it comes in without customs duty or VAT, provided you meet the relief conditions, such as 12 continuous months living outside the EU and at least 6 months' ownership and use. Measure your new rooms first, since very large pieces may not fit. The survey is a good moment to decide what to ship and what to leave.
How long does shipping from Dubai to Ireland take right now?
Longer than before 2026. With the Strait of Hormuz effectively closed since 28 February 2026, containers go by road to a port outside the strait, such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the UAE's east coast or Sohar in Oman, sail to a European hub, for example Rotterdam, and finish on a feeder sailing to Dublin or Cork. We confirm the routing and an estimated delivery window at your survey.
