Czechia is a landlocked country at the centre of Europe, and that single geographic fact shapes every move into it. There is no port to ship directly to — goods arriving from the UAE reach Czechia overland after a sea crossing into a European port or a flight into Prague. For a UAE family or business planning this move, that makes routing the first real decision, not an afterthought. Seemleius plans the Dubai–Czechia corridor from start to finish, so the route, the customs and the inland leg are all settled before anything is packed.
The UAE–Czechia route carries a varied mix of moves: engineers and managers joining manufacturing and technology firms around Brno and Plzeň, finance and shared-services staff relocating to Prague, and businesses opening Central European operations within easy reach of Germany, Austria, Poland and Slovakia. It is a corridor we know well — the freight options through Hamburg, Bremerhaven or the Adriatic port of Koper, the air links from DXB into Prague, and the practicalities of arriving in an EU member state with its own language, registration system and pace.
What makes the Czechia corridor distinct
Czechia is an EU member state, so once goods clear customs at the European point of entry they move freely within the Union — but because the country is landlocked, that point of entry is not in Czechia itself. Sea freight is the cost-effective choice for full household volumes. With the Strait of Hormuz closed to commercial shipping since February 2026, containers travel by road to a port outside the strait, such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the UAE’s east coast or Sohar in Oman, and sail from there either to the northern German ports of Hamburg or Bremerhaven, or to Koper in Slovenia on the Adriatic, with onward rail or road carriage into Czechia. Air freight from DXB into Prague (PRG) is the faster option when the timeline is tight, and we explain the trade-offs clearly before you choose.
Czech customs — administered by the Celní správa — operates to EU standards and expects declarations to be accurate and consistent. The inventory, the declared values and the supporting documents need to align, because a mismatch surfaces during clearance and holds the shipment. We prepare the customs file in advance so the goods match the paperwork exactly.
Transfer of residence relief on personal effects
Most arriving residents qualify for the EU transfer-of-residence relief, which exempts used personal property and household goods from import duty and Czech VAT. The general conditions are that the goods were owned and used at the previous residence for at least six months, that they are imported within a set period of the move, and that the person is genuinely transferring their normal residence to Czechia. A customs declaration is filed with supporting evidence — proof of prior UAE residence, proof of the new Czech address, and the detailed inventory. The relief depends on the documentation being complete, and we prepare it with you so the shipment is treated correctly at the EU border.
The UAE–Czechia corridor at a glance
Sea & air freight
Sea to Hamburg, Bremerhaven or Koper with onward rail and road into Czechia — or air DXB to Prague when the schedule is tight.
Czech customs handled
EU import documentation, the transfer-of-residence relief application and the supporting evidence prepared accurately and verified before the shipment moves.
Landlocked routing solved
The inland leg from the European port into Prague, Brno, Ostrava or Plzeň planned and coordinated as part of one continuous journey.
One coordinator
A single point of contact owns your move from the UAE survey through to Czech delivery — no handover gaps between freight, customs and inland carriers.
Where in Czechia we deliver
We move regularly to all of the country’s major destinations and their surrounding regions:
- Prague — the capital, the financial and shared-services hub, and the most common landing point for international arrivals
- Brno — the second city, a strong technology, research and engineering centre in Moravia with a growing international community
- Ostrava — an industrial and logistics city in the northeast, close to the Polish and Slovak borders
- Plzeň — a manufacturing and brewing centre in West Bohemia with established automotive and engineering employers
- Olomouc — a historic university city in central Moravia, a quieter destination with a steady professional population
- Smaller cities and towns across Bohemia and Moravia, reached on the inland delivery leg from the port of entry
What you arrive into
Czechia is a country of registered residence. Residence permits are a matter for the Czech Ministry of the Interior, the official source on the rules for EU and non-EU nationals. Most residents are also assigned a rodné číslo — the Czech birth or personal identification number — which functions as a key reference for healthcare, banking, tax and dealings with the authorities. We plan the shipment around your arrival timeline and your housing dates.
How the move works
- Survey and quote. We assess volume and contents — in person in the UAE or by video — and return a clear, itemised quote with the routing options explained.
- Document in advance. Dates are confirmed, freight space is booked, and the EU and Czech customs paperwork — the import declaration, the transfer-of-residence relief application, supporting evidence — is prepared and verified before the shipment leaves the UAE.
- Pack and ship. Our crew packs to export standard, builds a complete inventory, and dispatches on the booked route by sea or air.
- Clear and deliver. Our destination partner handles EU import clearance at the point of entry, coordinates the inland leg into Czechia, and handles delivery, unpacking and reassembly at your address.
Pick the guide that fits your move
A family relocating a Prague apartment and a manufacturer transferring a Brno engineering team are on the same corridor but planning very different moves. Each situation has its own dedicated guide below. Pick the one that matches your circumstances, or request a quote and your coordinator will point you to the right starting point.
