When UAE families plan a move to Czechia, the furniture is rarely what worries them. The family pet and the car are the two things that generate the most questions — because both are governed by EU entry rules that are specific, non-negotiable, and not always obvious from the outside. Seemleius coordinates both as a managed part of your move on the UAE–Czechia corridor. The earlier you raise them, the better the outcome, because some of the requirements are governed by fixed waiting periods that cannot be shortened.

Pet relocation to Czechia

Czechia applies the European Union’s rules for pets entering from a third country, and the UAE is a third country in EU terminology. The requirements are not unreasonable, but they are time-sensitive: each step must be completed in the correct order, and some carry mandatory waiting periods. Miss a step or get the sequence wrong, and the animal cannot enter the EU.

The core sequence for a dog or cat travelling from the UAE to Czechia is: an ISO-compliant microchip first, then the primary rabies vaccination after the chip has been implanted — never before — and at least twenty-one days before travel. As the UAE is a listed third country under the EU pet-travel rules, no rabies antibody titration test and no three-month wait are needed. An EU animal health certificate is issued by an official UAE veterinarian shortly before travel, and the animal must enter the European Union through a designated travellers’ point of entry, where the documentation is checked.

Once in Czechia, dog ownership is registered at municipal level and a local dog tax applies, with the amount set by each town or city. We brief you on the registration step that applies in your destination municipality so nothing is missed after arrival.

  • UAE microchip and rabies vaccination sequenced correctly, allowing for the twenty-one days a first vaccination needs before travel
  • EU animal health certificate issued in the UAE within the required window before departure
  • Approved air route from DXB into the EU via a designated travellers’ point of entry, with handlers who understand EU animal welfare standards
  • Guidance on municipal dog registration and the local dog tax in your Czech destination

Vehicle shipping to Czechia

Shipping a car from the UAE to Czechia involves far more than the freight. There is UAE export documentation, EU import treatment, a technical inspection, and Czech registration — and because Czechia is landlocked, the vehicle is delivered by road or rail after arriving at a European port. We handle the logistics chain and ensure the documentation is in order, and we are straightforward about the duty, tax, inspection and registration costs so there are no surprises on arrival.

The customs treatment of the vehicle depends on whether it qualifies for the EU transfer-of-residence relief. A vehicle owned and used by the owner for at least six months before the move, and which the owner will continue to use in Czechia, can generally be imported under that relief and exempted from the EU import duty and Czech VAT. The vehicle is declared alongside the household goods on the same transfer-of-residence application. Without the relief, duty and VAT are payable on the customs value of the car.

Once cleared, a vehicle that did not originally meet EU type approval must pass a Czech technical inspection — the technická kontrola at an authorised STK station — together with an emissions check, before it can be registered. UAE-specification headlights, side markers and emissions equipment frequently need adjustment or replacement to meet European standards. After the inspection, the vehicle is registered at the local vehicle registry office: compulsory third-party liability insurance is arranged, and Czech licence plates are issued. We map this sequence out so you know what each stage costs and how long it takes.

  • Container freight, or roll-on roll-off where a sailing is available, booked from a port outside the Strait of Hormuz to a European port, with the inland leg into Czechia arranged
  • UAE export and EU import documentation prepared — including the transfer-of-residence relief application for the vehicle where it applies
  • Czech technical inspection (technická kontrola) and emissions check coordinated post-clearance, with guidance on the modifications UAE-spec vehicles typically need
  • Vehicle registry formalities and compulsory insurance set out in advance, so the car can be made road-legal after it arrives

How it works

  1. Tell us what is moving. The pet (species, breed, size) and / or the vehicle (make, model, year, current emissions specification), plus your anticipated move dates.
  2. Map the requirements. We set out the EU entry sequence for the pet and the import, inspection and registration sequence for the vehicle — including the lead times and waiting periods that cannot be compressed.
  3. Coordinate the journeys. Pet travel via an approved DXB route and vehicle freight by sea are booked and aligned with your household shipment so arrivals are sequenced sensibly.
  4. Keep you informed. Your coordinator updates you through each stage — the pet’s UAE vet appointments, EU clearance, technical inspection, registry formalities — and you can ask for an update at any stage.

EU pet entry rules in particular reward early action — a first rabies vaccination must be given at least twenty-one days before travel, and that wait cannot be shortened. The full corridor, including household and family moves, is set out under moving to Czechia. Get in touch as soon as you have a move date and we will map out the full timeline for both the pet and the vehicle.

Common questions about this move

Anything specific to your situation? A specialist for this corridor is happy to help.

Contact us
How long does a move to Czechia take?

It depends on the freight mode, the volume and the routing, which your coordinator confirms at the survey along with a realistic window — sea freight is the economical choice for a full household, air freight is faster for essentials.

Do you handle customs at both ends?

Yes, with our destination partner: we prepare the export paperwork in Dubai, and clearance at the destination is handled by our partner there. Some countries ask you to apply for duty relief yourself — your coordinator tells you what to file and when.

Is my shipment insured in transit?

Transit insurance (all-risk cover) is available. Your coordinator explains the cover options when quoting, and the terms are confirmed in your quote.

How far ahead should I book?

Two to four weeks is comfortable for most international moves, but we regularly handle urgent relocations. The earlier you reach out, the more flexibility you have on dates and freight space.

Will I have one point of contact?

Yes — one coordinator in Dubai looks after your move from the survey to delivery and works with our destination partner, so you are never passed between companies.
