Your household, from the UAE to Riyadh by road

Relocating from the UAE to Riyadh? As a moving company based in Dubai Investment Park, we take your household to Riyadh by road, about 1,040 km, with one coordinator from the survey in Dubai or Abu Dhabi to the last box unpacked.

The timing of a Riyadh move is tied to your iqama: your goods can be cleared once it has been issued and you're in Saudi Arabia, so we plan the dates around it.

Movers and packers for Riyadh: what's included

One fixed, itemised quote covers the whole move, so you won't have to book separate packers and movers in Riyadh:

  • A 100% free in-home or video survey in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah.
  • Export packing by trained crews, with crates for art, mirrors, glass and other fragile items.
  • Furniture dismantling before loading and reassembly in Riyadh.
  • The UAE export declaration and the land cargo manifest, prepared in Dubai.
  • Road transport to your door through the Al Ghuwaifat–Al Batha border.
  • Customs clearance in Saudi Arabia with our destination partner.
  • Delivery, placement and unpacking.
  • Transit insurance available (terms confirmed with your quote).
  • Storage in Dubai, short or long term, if your new home isn't ready.

Saudi customs: what your household goods need

Moving within the GCC doesn't mean skipping customs. Goods arriving in Saudi Arabia by road are declared on a land cargo manifest, and you should expect a full physical inspection.

Used household goods for personal use are exempt from duty if they arrive within six months of your arrival to reside, and foreigners must prove that it is their first arrival. New items aren't covered and need receipts; cars are excluded. If you have been living in the UAE, don't assume the exemption applies: customs decides whether your move counts as a first arrival, and we go through your case at the survey.

  • From you: your passport, a copy of your iqama, proof of first arrival, and receipts for new items.
  • From us: the packing list, the UAE export declaration that Abu Dhabi Customs requires in advance at Al Ghuwaifat, the land cargo manifest, and clearance with our destination partner.
  • Clearance: the customs broker is authorised online through FASAH once your iqama is issued, and you must be in Saudi Arabia when the goods are cleared.

Alcohol, pork, narcotics and pornography are prohibited, as are weapons, fireworks, hidden cameras and listening devices, publications that break Ministry of Media rules, unregistered pills and herbs, and nutmeg. Medicines, religious books, drones, wireless equipment and products containing alcohol, such as perfume, need approval, so mention them at the survey.

The road to Riyadh: Al Ghuwaifat to Al Batha

Every road move from the UAE to Saudi Arabia leaves at Al Ghuwaifat and enters at Al Batha, the only land border between the two countries. From there the truck heads inland to Riyadh, about 1,040 km in all from our base.

Border time varies. In May 2026 a freight update estimated 24–48 hours for a truck to cross; in July 2026, queues at Al Batha ran from a few hours to several days. We confirm loading and delivery dates at your survey, and your coordinator keeps you updated while the truck is on the road.

Because road moves don't pass through the Strait of Hormuz, its closure to commercial shipping since 28 February 2026 doesn't affect them. Sea bookings to Saudi Arabia's Gulf ports are currently suspended.

How your Riyadh move runs

  • Survey: a coordinator visits your home in Dubai or Abu Dhabi and lists everything that's moving.
  • Fixed quote: you get a fixed, itemised quote and the documents Saudi customs will need from you.
  • Packing day: trained crews pack, crate and dismantle, write the inventory and load the truck.
  • Departure: the export declaration is lodged ahead of Al Ghuwaifat and the truck sets off.
  • Arrival and clearance: the goods cross at Al Batha and are cleared with our destination partner while you're in Saudi Arabia.
  • Delivery: we deliver in Riyadh within the permitted truck hours, reassemble the furniture and unpack.

Delivering in Riyadh: districts and truck hours

We deliver across Riyadh, including Al Olaya, Al Malqa, Hittin, Al Nakheel, Al Yasmin, the Diplomatic Quarter and the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD), and to compounds throughout the city.

Riyadh limits when trucks can enter the city. The hours are set by the General Department of Traffic and change by season, for example during Ramadan. We book your delivery slot around the rules in force on your date, and around any move-in rules your compound or building gives us.

Cars and pets

Cars are excluded from the household goods exemption and move as a separate service: see vehicle shipping. Pets have their own service too: see pet relocation.

Storage in Dubai while your iqama is processed

If you fly ahead and your iqama takes time, we can keep your household in storage in Dubai, short or long term, and send it when you're ready for clearance. Plan around the six-month window for the duty exemption.

Comparing relocation companies in Riyadh? Start with a free survey

The survey is 100% free, with no obligation. A coordinator visits your home in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, notes the volume, the fragile pieces and the access, and asks when your iqama is expected. You then receive a fixed, itemised quote.

Book through the quote form on this page or at seemleius.com/get-quote, or call or WhatsApp +971 56 899 2011.

Questions about moving to Riyadh from Dubai

Contact us
What does a moving company to Riyadh need from me before packing day?

Your passport, your iqama or the date it's expected, proof of your first arrival in Saudi Arabia and receipts for any new items. Set aside anything that needs approval, such as medicines, drones or wireless equipment, and take out anything prohibited, such as alcohol or pork products. If your compound or building has move-in rules, send them to us as well.

Are household goods duty-free when moving to Riyadh?

They can be. Saudi customs exempts used household goods for personal use that arrive within six months of your arrival to reside, and foreigners must prove that it is their first arrival; new items aren't covered and need receipts, and cars are excluded. Whether a move from the UAE counts as a first arrival is decided by customs, so we check your case at the survey.

Do I need to be in Saudi Arabia for customs clearance?

Yes. You need to be in the country when the goods are cleared, and the customs broker is authorised online through FASAH once your iqama is issued. Until then, we can keep your household in storage in Dubai and send it when you're ready, within the six-month window.

How long does the road move from Dubai to Riyadh take?

Dates are confirmed at your survey rather than quoted as a standard number of days. Riyadh is about 1,040 km from our base through Al Ghuwaifat–Al Batha; a May 2026 freight update estimated 24–48 hours for the crossing, and queues in July 2026 ran from a few hours to several days.

Can you deliver into a compound or tower in Riyadh?

Yes. Send your coordinator any move-in rules your compound or building has, such as booked hours, gate access or a service lift, before delivery day. We then plan the delivery within those rules and within the city's truck hours, which change by season.

How is a move to Riyadh priced?

On the volume of your household, access at both homes such as floors, lifts and parking, the packing and crating needed, and whether you add storage or transit insurance. The free survey measures all of this, and you then get a fixed, itemised quote with no obligation.
