Portugal has become a credible choice for UAE businesses building an Iberian or European base, and the appeal goes beyond lifestyle. Lisbon has grown into a serious technology and shared-services hub, Porto offers a deep talent pool at a lower cost, and the country’s incentives for foreign companies and skilled workers have drawn a steady stream of corporate arrivals. When a UAE business makes that move, the office relocation rarely happens in isolation; it usually runs alongside company registration, a new commercial lease, an HR mobility plan and a team that needs to be working from day one. The physical move cannot be the part that introduces risk.

What “operational on day one” requires

A corporate relocation from the UAE to Portugal is not a large house move. It is a sequenced project: office furniture that must be reassembled to a Portuguese floor plan, IT that has to come back up in the correct order, commercial goods with their own classification and import treatment, and an EU customs process that expects accurate documentation. We treat it as exactly that — an operational project with a single owner and a delivery standard measured in business continuity, not cartons unloaded.

Portuguese working practices also shape the schedule. The country observes a long list of national and municipal public holidays, and August is effectively a quiet month across much of the economy, with reduced staffing and slower official processing. Building management in Lisbon and Porto commercial properties often restricts heavy access, lift use and noisy work to specific weekday hours. We confirm these constraints at both ends, working with our destination partner in Portugal, before a date is fixed.

Office furniture & fit-out

Workstations, desks, storage and meeting-room equipment dismantled in the UAE, packed, shipped to a Portuguese port on a sailing from outside the Strait of Hormuz, and reassembled to your floor plan.

IT & sensitive equipment

Sequenced so servers, network hardware and end-user devices arrive in the right order and come back up cleanly in Portugal — with secure decommissioning at the UAE origin.

EU commercial customs

Business-goods import documentation prepared accurately for the Autoridade Tributária e Aduaneira — EU clearance, HS classification, EORI registration and valuation handled properly.

Phased scheduling

The move sequenced to keep operating downtime to a minimum — typically across a weekend or quiet period, respecting building access rules at the destination.

Corporate destinations in Portugal

We relocate offices and operations to all of Portugal’s main business centres:

  • Lisbon — the capital and the country’s financial, technology and shared-services hub, with the deepest international office market
  • Porto — the northern commercial centre, strong on technology, engineering and a competitive cost base
  • Cascais and Oeiras — the corridor west of Lisbon, home to business parks and a concentration of international companies
  • Braga — a growing technology and manufacturing centre in the north with a strong university pipeline
  • Faro and the Algarve — regional offices, hospitality operations and businesses serving the southern economy
  • Setúbal — industrial and logistics operations south of Lisbon, well placed for port and distribution activity

IT decommissioning and EU data rules

Corporate moves into Portugal increasingly turn on the IT element. Servers and storage decommissioned in the UAE often hold personal data that, once the company has Portuguese operations, falls under the EU’s GDPR regime as enforced by the national data protection authority, the Comissão Nacional de Protecção de Dados. We coordinate secure decommissioning, certified data destruction where required, and logistics that keep custody chains documented so the audit trail is clean. End-user devices are typically shipped with their users to minimise downtime, with shared infrastructure scheduled around the IT cutover plan.

Commercial goods and the EORI chain

If the move includes commercial stock, samples or operational equipment, the EU import side requires an EORI number registered against the Portuguese entity, accurate HS classification for each line item, and customs submission ahead of the cargo arriving at Lisbon, Leixões or Sines. We prepare the import file in parallel with the move itself so customs treatment is not the constraint on day one.

How a corporate move runs

  1. Survey both ends. We assess the UAE premises and, through our destination partner, the Portuguese destination, along with access and lift availability at each, building hours, and any holiday-period or scheduling constraints.
  2. Plan the move window. The schedule is built around the window that costs your operation the least — start date, building access, IT cutover and any seasonal slowdown.
  3. Pack, ship and clear. Our crew packs and labels to the Portuguese floor plan, the shipment travels on the booked sea or DXB air route, and EU customs is managed in parallel.
  4. Set up and restart. The Portuguese office is laid out, reassembled and ready for your team to bring the operation back up — with noisy reassembly scheduled to respect building rules.

A corporate move is one strand of the wider UAE–Portugal corridor we cover — you can see the full picture on our moving to Portugal guide. From a small representative office to a full commercial floor, the measure is the same: continuity. Talk to us about your Portugal relocation and we will plan it around your operational requirements and the realities of moving into a Portuguese building.

Common questions about this move

How long does a move to Portugal take?

It depends on the freight mode, the volume and the routing, which your coordinator confirms at the survey along with a realistic window — sea freight is the economical choice for a full household, air freight is faster for essentials.

Do you handle customs at both ends?

Yes, with our destination partner: we prepare the export paperwork in Dubai, and clearance at the destination is handled by our partner there. Some countries ask you to apply for duty relief yourself — your coordinator tells you what to file and when.

Is my shipment insured in transit?

Transit insurance (all-risk cover) is available. Your coordinator explains the cover options when quoting, and the terms are confirmed in your quote.

How far ahead should I book?

Two to four weeks is comfortable for most international moves, but we regularly handle urgent relocations. The earlier you reach out, the more flexibility you have on dates and freight space.

Will I have one point of contact?

Yes — one coordinator in Dubai looks after your move from the survey to delivery and works with our destination partner, so you are never passed between companies.
