For commercial freight, the UAE–Oman corridor is one of the Gulf’s most efficient. The shared land border means road freight is fast and direct; the Port of Sohar is a substantial industrial facility capable of handling bulk and heavy cargo; Salalah Port is one of the region’s major transhipment hubs; and Oman’s expanding Vision 2040 economy — construction, energy, tourism infrastructure, retail, the Duqm SEZ industrial build-out — is creating consistent demand across all freight categories. Seemleius commercial cargo on this corridor keeps every element of the chain under one coordinator.

Road freight is the workhorse

For the majority of commercial consignments from the UAE into Oman, road freight is the right answer. Direct departure from your Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi or Al Ain warehouse; no transhipment; controlled delivery scheduling to your Muscat, Sohar, Salalah or Duqm address. The Hatta–Al Wajajah and Khatmat Malaha crossings serve Muscat, Sohar and the north; Mezyad from Al Ain is the natural route for Duqm and inland consignments. The border crossing is efficient when the documentation is prepared in advance — so our destination partner lodges the Bayan import declaration on the Customs Single Window before the truck moves, rather than at the crossing.

GCC duty and the Bayan declaration

Goods of GCC origin — manufactured in or sufficiently transformed within the GCC and certified accordingly — normally clear into Oman duty-free under the GCC customs union. The certificate of origin is the document that earns that treatment, and the HS classification on the commercial invoice is what determines whether duty applies at all or whether the consignment qualifies for exemption. Where the goods need to enter temporarily — exhibition stock, equipment for a site project, samples — we confirm before they move whether a temporary-entry arrangement can defer the duty. We classify and document the consignment in Dubai, and our destination partner lodges the declaration in Oman, so it moves on the rate it should.

Sea freight into Sohar and Salalah

The Port of Sohar is one of Oman’s key industrial freight gateways — well equipped for bulk, heavy and oversized cargo, with the freezone alongside for bonded warehouse storage. Salalah Port, on the Indian Ocean coast, is one of the world’s busiest transhipment hubs and the natural entry for consignments routed to southern Oman or onward to the wider Indian Ocean. For large volumes, oversized plant and equipment, or bulk consignments where cost efficiency is the primary consideration, sea freight into the appropriate Oman port can be the right mode; since the Strait of Hormuz closed to commercial shipping in February 2026, it sails from a port outside the strait, such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the UAE’s east coast, with routing and dates confirmed at the survey. We coordinate the full chain from UAE collection through to Oman port clearance and final delivery.

Air freight into Muscat International

For time-critical commercial cargo — urgent spare parts, high-value equipment, perishable goods or trade-show consignments — air freight DXB–MCT into Muscat International is available on a roughly one-hour flight. We combine modes where it makes sense: air for the urgent component, road or sea for the remainder, under the same coordinator and the same booking reference.

Collection from UAE

Cargo collected from your UAE warehouse, workshop or premises and prepared for the chosen freight mode — container, road trailer or air pallet.

Bayan customs documentation

UAE export and Oman Bayan import paperwork — HS classification, valuation, GCC certificate of origin and any temporary-entry papers — prepared correctly before the shipment moves.

Border & port clearance

Clearance managed with our destination partner at the Hatta–Al Wajajah, Khatmat Malaha or Mezyad crossings, or at Sohar and Salalah ports.

Delivery across Oman

Onward delivery from the border or port to your Muscat, Sohar, Salalah or Duqm address, with delivery confirmation and POD provided.

How a commercial shipment to Oman runs

  1. Brief us. Goods description, HS classification where known, weight, dimensions, declared value and your delivery deadline in Oman.
  2. Quote and route. A clear quote with the recommended freight mode, the planned routing and any import duty guidance — GCC-origin exemption or the standard rate — for your cargo type.
  3. Book and document. Freight space is confirmed, cargo is collected, and the Bayan declaration and all Oman import documentation are pre-lodged before the shipment moves.
  4. Track to delivery. Your coordinator follows the shipment through the border or port and confirms final delivery in Oman with signed POD.

Single consignment or regular freight programme — the Oman corridor is well established and we run it well. Request a freight quote and we will route it properly.

Common questions about this move

Anything specific to your situation? A specialist for this corridor is happy to help.

Contact us
How long does a move to Oman take?

It depends on the freight mode, the volume and the routing, which your coordinator confirms at the survey along with a realistic window — sea freight is the economical choice for a full household, air freight is faster for essentials.

Do you handle customs at both ends?

Yes, with our destination partner: we prepare the export paperwork in Dubai, and clearance at the destination is handled by our partner there. Some countries ask you to apply for duty relief yourself — your coordinator tells you what to file and when.

Is my shipment insured in transit?

Transit insurance (all-risk cover) is available. Your coordinator explains the cover options when quoting, and the terms are confirmed in your quote.

How far ahead should I book?

Two to four weeks is comfortable for most international moves, but we regularly handle urgent relocations. The earlier you reach out, the more flexibility you have on dates and freight space.

Will I have one point of contact?

Yes — one coordinator in Dubai looks after your move from the survey to delivery and works with our destination partner, so you are never passed between companies.
