Our Melbourne moving services start in your home in Dubai or Abu Dhabi and end in your new one in Melbourne: export packing by trained crews, the customs and biosecurity paperwork, the sea crossing, clearance, delivery and unpacking, with one coordinator throughout.

Your moving company for Melbourne: what's included
One fixed, itemised quote covers the whole move:
- A 100% free in-home or video survey anywhere in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah.
- Export packing by trained crews, crating for fragile items and art, and furniture dismantling and reassembly.
- A numbered packing list that names the materials in each box, ready for DAFF's assessment.
- Your UPE Statement (form B534) and the export documents, prepared in Dubai.
- Sea freight in a full or shared container, depending on volume, and air freight for essentials.
- ABF and DAFF clearance in Melbourne with our destination partner.
- Delivery to your Melbourne address, placement room by room and unpacking.
- Transit insurance available (terms confirmed with your quote).
- Storage in Dubai, short or long term, if your dates don't line up.
Customs and biosecurity for your Melbourne move
Used furniture and household goods you have owned and used for 12 months before leaving come in free of duty and GST under the Unaccompanied Personal Effects (UPE) concession, with no permanent-residency condition. Clearance needs the UPE Statement (form B534), the bill of lading and a packing list. The B534 goes to both Australian Border Force (ABF) and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF), and ABF releases nothing until DAFF has assessed it.
In Victoria, ABF accepts UPE statements by email at upevic@abf.gov.au; our destination partner handles the lodgement as part of your clearance.
A vague packing list cannot be fixed once the container has landed in Melbourne. DAFF wants every box numbered and its materials named, and entries like "PBO" (packed by owner) or "misc" are treated as items of concern. Inspection is charged by time, so listing the box numbers of declared items cuts both time and cost.
- Banned: fresh fruit and vegetables, live plants, unidentified seeds (including spices) and soiled goods.
- Khapra beetle list: banned in shipped personal effects from every country, even in sealed supermarket packs. It includes rice, chickpeas, lentils, peanuts, dried chillies, and cumin and coriander seed; commercially ground products in packs of 25 kg or less are exempt.
- Declare and clean: wooden items, outdoor furniture, barbecues, garden tools, bikes, footwear, tents and golf clubs.
- Not covered by the concession: alcohol, tobacco, motor vehicles and parts, commercial goods, and goods arranged to be sent after you arrive. Shisha (molasses) tobacco is a prohibited import unless ABF gives a permit before it arrives, and vapes need prior permission.
We prepare the packing list, the B534 and the shipping documents. You provide your details for the B534, receipts for anything owned less than 12 months and proof that the shipment is linked to your move, such as a ticket or work contract. Official charges are listed in your quote.
Shipping to the Port of Melbourne
Since 28 February 2026 the Strait of Hormuz has been effectively closed to commercial shipping, so UAE containers go by road to a port outside the strait, such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the east coast or Sohar in Oman, and sail from there. Schedules are longer and less predictable than before.
Cargo for Melbourne normally tranships in Singapore or Port Klang. On carrier schedules checked in September 2026, the final leg from Singapore typically takes 10–12 days. The Port of Melbourne handles more than a third of Australia's container trade, at Swanson Dock and Webb Dock.
The leg from the UAE to Singapore depends on the carrier at the time of booking, so we confirm your routing and door-to-door dates at the survey. For clothes and essentials you need on arrival, air freight is the faster option.
How your Melbourne move runs
- Survey: a coordinator visits your home and flags biosecurity risk items before anything is packed.
- Fixed quote: every service itemised and official charges listed (DAFF inspection, if any, is charged by time), with the transit insurance terms.
- Packing day: crews dismantle, wrap and crate, numbering every box against the packing list.
- Departure: your container goes by road to the port and sails on the confirmed routing, with the B534 and bill of lading ready.
- Arrival and clearance: our destination partner handles ABF and DAFF clearance and arranges any inspection.
- Delivery: furniture placed and reassembled, boxes unpacked.
Delivering across Melbourne
We deliver across Greater Melbourne, including South Yarra, Richmond, St Kilda, Brighton, Hawthorn and Docklands.
Before delivery day we ask about the new address: a lift booking or loading bay for an apartment, parking for the truck, stairs and narrow access. Our destination partner plans the delivery around those details, then places your furniture room by room, reassembles it and unpacks.
Before anything reaches Melbourne, the move needs export packing in Dubai, a B534 and a clear packing list, which is where our work begins.
Pets and cars
Pets and vehicles are moved as separate services with their own paperwork: see pet relocation and vehicle shipping. Cars and car parts fall outside the UPE concession, so they are quoted and cleared separately.
Storage in Dubai
If your Dubai lease ends before your Melbourne home is ready, we keep your goods in storage in Dubai, short or long term. Book any later shipment before you arrive in Australia: goods arranged to be sent after you arrive are not covered by the concession.
Book your free in-home survey
A coordinator visits your home in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, goes through each room with you and notes what goes by sea, by air, into storage or nowhere at all. We also ask about your Melbourne address and move-in date.
The survey is 100% free with no obligation, and your fixed, itemised quote follows.
Book through the form on this page or our quote page, or call or WhatsApp +971 56 899 2011.

Questions about moving to Melbourne from Dubai
Anything specific to your situation? A specialist for this corridor is happy to help.
Contact usHow long does a shipment from Dubai to Melbourne take?
It depends on the routing when you book. Containers currently go by road to a port outside the Strait of Hormuz, such as Khor Fakkan on the UAE's east coast or Sohar in Oman, and cargo for Melbourne normally tranships in Singapore or Port Klang. The final leg from Singapore typically takes 10–12 days on September 2026 schedules. We confirm your door-to-door dates at the survey, and again when the booking is made.
Are you international removalists in Melbourne or in Dubai?
In Dubai: Seemleius Mobility and Cargo LLC is based in Dubai Investment Park. In Melbourne, our destination partner handles clearance, delivery and unpacking as part of the same quote, so there is no separate moving company in Melbourne to deal with. Your coordinator in Dubai stays your contact throughout.
What should I check before choosing overseas removalists to Melbourne?
Ask who prepares the B534 and the packing list, and whether every box will be numbered with its materials named. Ask how food, outdoor furniture and bikes will be handled, whether clearance, delivery and unpacking in Melbourne are in the quote, and for the transit insurance terms in writing.
Can I pack food from my kitchen?
Very little. The khapra beetle list, banned in shipped personal effects from every country even in sealed supermarket packs, includes rice, chickpeas, lentils, peanuts, dried chillies, and cumin and coriander seed. Fresh fruit and vegetables and unidentified seeds, including spices, are banned too. Commercially ground products in packs of 25 kg or less are exempt from the khapra list.
Do I have to be in Melbourne when my container arrives?
No. Your goods may arrive before or after you, as long as the shipment was booked before you arrived and is linked to your move. If DAFF selects boxes for inspection, a time is booked and the goods are unpacked for it; our destination partner arranges this for you.
What do your Melbourne moving services cost?
It depends on the volume of your home, sea or air, a full or shared container, crating, access at your Melbourne address, storage and insurance. DAFF inspection, if your shipment is selected, is charged by time. The free in-home survey gives you a fixed, itemised quote with every item listed.
