The UAE–Vietnam corridor carries professionals joining Vietnam’s fast-growing manufacturing, technology and services sectors, families relocating to the major cities, returning Vietnamese, and businesses establishing or expanding a Southeast Asian base. The UAE’s direct air links and strong trade ties with Vietnam make this an active route, with well-understood freight logic at both ends.

Freight routes & customs

Because the Strait of Hormuz closed to commercial shipping in February 2026, sea containers now travel by road to a port outside the strait, such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the UAE’s east coast or Sohar in Oman, and sail on to Vietnam’s major ports — Cat Lai and the Cai Mep deep-water terminals serving the south near Ho Chi Minh City, and Hai Phong serving the north near Hanoi. Routing and dates are confirmed at the survey. Air freight from DXB flies into Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City or Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, roughly six to seven hours direct, suited to urgent or higher-value consignments.

Customs is administered by the General Department of Vietnam Customs. Returning residents and citizens, and expatriates arriving on appropriate visas, may import used personal and household effects with relief from import duty where the goods have been owned and used abroad and are presented with a detailed inventory, passport and visa or work-permit evidence. We prepare the declaration in advance and confirm the treatment before the shipment leaves the UAE.

Who moves this route

The corridor serves a broad mix. Household relocations are the largest share — families and individuals settling in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang for work or study. Business and office moves cover companies setting up manufacturing and services operations, shipping furniture, IT and records.
