Germany is Europe’s largest economy and runs one of its most demanding customs environments. Commercial cargo that enters the country incorrectly classified or with incomplete documentation does not get a quick pass — it gets held. For UAE businesses shipping into Germany, that means the documentation work happens before the cargo moves, not as an afterthought when it arrives at Hamburg or Bremerhaven. Seemleius commercial cargo and freight on the UAE–Germany corridor is built around that discipline: thorough preparation, accurate classification, and a coordinator who monitors the shipment through every handover.
The UAE–Germany freight corridor
We arrange and coordinate sea and air freight from the UAE into Germany for commercial stock, equipment, industrial goods, consolidated consignments and full containers. Sea freight to Hamburg or Bremerhaven now sails from a port outside the Strait of Hormuz, such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the UAE’s east coast or Sohar in Oman, with containers taken there by road because the strait has been closed to commercial shipping since February 2026; routing and dates are confirmed at the survey. Air freight from DXB to Frankfurt is around 6.5 hours direct, with cargo connections to Munich, Düsseldorf and Leipzig. Germany’s position as an EU point of entry is a strategic advantage if your cargo needs to reach multiple European destinations — clearing customs in Hamburg or Frankfurt clears the goods into the entire EU, simplifying onward distribution into France, Benelux, Austria, Denmark, Sweden and Finland.
Sea freight
Cost-effective for larger volumes and bulk commercial consignments — full container or consolidated loads by sea to Hamburg or Bremerhaven, with options for bonded warehousing at the port if onward clearance is staged.
Air freight
For time-sensitive commercial cargo — high-value goods, urgent equipment or consignments that cannot wait on sea transit times — direct DXB to FRA, MUC, DUS and HAM.
German Zoll & ATLAS
German import documentation prepared and submitted through ATLAS electronic clearance — HS codes, EORI registration, valuation and supporting records done properly the first time.
Onward road delivery
From the German port or airport to the final commercial address — anywhere in Germany, or onward into wider Europe under T1/T2 transit where required.
The German Zoll, ATLAS and EORI
The German Zoll runs all electronic import clearances through ATLAS — the Automatisiertes Tarif- und Lokales Zollabwicklungssystem — and every commercial importer needs an EORI (Economic Operators Registration and Identification) number registered with German customs before cargo can clear in its name. Standard German import VAT is 19%, applied on top of any duty, and is recoverable for VAT-registered businesses through the regular VAT return.
For cargo destined onward into other EU countries, or for goods that need to move under suspension to a bonded warehouse, our destination partner uses the T1 (external transit) procedure so the import VAT and duty are settled at the right point in the chain. For temporary movements — exhibition stock, demonstration equipment, professional tools — an ATA carnet is often the cleanest mechanism; we help prepare it in Dubai and our destination partner presents it for clearance.
Why classification accuracy matters on this corridor
The HS code assigned to your cargo determines the duty rate, the VAT base, and any applicable restrictions or licensing — an incorrect classification can result in delays, back-duties, penalty interest and compliance issues that cost significantly more than getting it right at the outset. We do not guess on classification; we confirm it before the shipment moves and document the reasoning so any subsequent Zoll query is answered from the file.
Bonded warehousing and staged clearance
For larger UAE shippers, bonded warehouse storage at Hamburg or Bremerhaven keeps cargo in customs suspension until the goods are needed — useful when the inland customer is not ready, when VAT cashflow needs managing, or when a consignment will be split across multiple onward destinations. We coordinate the warehouse, the staged clearance and the inland trucking south to Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Munich and beyond.
How a commercial shipment runs
- Brief us. What is shipping, its HS classification if known, value, weight and dimensions, the German consignee’s EORI, and when it needs to arrive in Germany.
- Quote and route. You receive a clear quote with the freight mode, the planned routing, the customs treatment, and any T1/T2 or bonded options explained.
- Document and book. German Zoll documentation is prepared, the ATLAS file is built, any origin or licensing evidence is collected, vessel or aircraft space is booked and the cargo collected.
- Track to delivery. Your coordinator monitors the shipment through each handover, manages German customs clearance with our destination partner, and confirms delivery at the final German destination — or onward into the EU under transit.
Whether it is a single consignment or regular freight into Germany, we route and document it properly. Request a freight quote and we will confirm the right approach for your cargo, the EORI and ATLAS treatment, and any duty or VAT planning that applies.

Common questions about this move
Anything specific to your situation? A specialist for this corridor is happy to help.
Contact usHow long does a move to Germany take?
It depends on the freight mode, the volume and the routing, which your coordinator confirms at the survey along with a realistic window — sea freight is the economical choice for a full household, air freight is faster for essentials.
Do you handle customs at both ends?
Yes, with our destination partner: we prepare the export paperwork in Dubai, and clearance at the destination is handled by our partner there. Some countries ask you to apply for duty relief yourself — your coordinator tells you what to file and when.
Is my shipment insured in transit?
Transit insurance (all-risk cover) is available. Your coordinator explains the cover options when quoting, and the terms are confirmed in your quote.
How far ahead should I book?
Two to four weeks is comfortable for most international moves, but we regularly handle urgent relocations. The earlier you reach out, the more flexibility you have on dates and freight space.
Will I have one point of contact?
Yes — one coordinator in Dubai looks after your move from the survey to delivery and works with our destination partner, so you are never passed between companies.
