Pets and vehicles are the two parts of a move to Turkey that people worry about most, and for good reason — both sit outside a normal household clearance and both have rules that reward planning and punish improvisation. Seemleius handles them as their own workstreams, coordinated with your household shipment but managed to their own timelines and paperwork.

Relocating your pet to Turkey

Turkey admits pets under a defined health protocol, and the sequence matters because some steps have minimum waiting periods. In practice a dog or cat needs an ISO-standard microchip, a current rabies vaccination given after the chip, a rabies antibody titre test where required for the route, and an official veterinary health certificate issued close to travel by a UAE vet. Pets usually fly into İstanbul, and there is a limit on the number of animals per passenger. We work with an established pet-relocation partner and build the vaccination and testing calendar backwards from your travel date so nothing is missed at the last minute.

  • ISO-standard microchip and a rabies vaccination given after it
  • Rabies antibody titre test where the route requires one, with lead time built in
  • Official veterinary health certificate timed to travel
  • IATA-compliant travel crate, sized and acclimatised for the animal
  • Booking into İstanbul with the per-passenger limit planned around

Shipping a vehicle to Turkey — a frank view

Vehicles are the hard case, and we would rather be straight with you than sell a shipment you will regret. Turkey applies strict limits and heavy taxes on importing used foreign-registered cars, and for the great majority of moves it simply is not economical to bring a UAE car in and register it. There are narrow exceptions tied to specific residence and returning-resident categories, and foreign-plated vehicles can be used on a temporary basis under tourist and transit rules for a limited period. At the survey we tell you honestly which side of that line your situation falls on, and where importing does not make sense we say so rather than earn a fee shipping metal that has to turn around at the port.

Where a vehicle move does make sense

For classic cars, motorbikes and specialist vehicles moving under the right category, or for temporary imports within the permitted period, we crate or lash the vehicle for sea, drain and disconnect to shipping-line requirements, and coordinate the Turkish clearance with our destination partner. Motorcycles and smaller vehicles often share a consolidated container to keep the cost proportionate.

What is included

Pet health calendar

Chip, vaccination, any required titre test and the certificate, sequenced to your travel date.

IATA crate & flight

Correctly sized travel crate and booking into İstanbul.

Honest vehicle advice

A straight assessment of whether importing your car is worth it.

Broker-cleared

Turkish customs for pets and any vehicle cleared through our destination partner.

How it runs

  1. Assess. At the survey we scope the pet protocol and give a frank view on any vehicle.
  2. Prepare. We build the pet health calendar and, where a vehicle ships, prepare it and its paperwork.
  3. Move. Pet flies into İstanbul on schedule; any vehicle travels by sea with the household or consolidated.
  4. Clear and reunite. Our destination partner clears both, and we coordinate the timing with your own arrival and the household delivery.

Pets almost always, vehicles case by case — either way you get a straight answer. Request your quote and we will plan the pet calendar and assess any vehicle at the survey.

Common questions about this move

How long does a move to Turkey take?

It depends on the freight mode, the volume and the routing, which your coordinator confirms at the survey along with a realistic window — sea freight is the economical choice for a full household, air freight is faster for essentials.

Do you handle customs at both ends?

Yes, with our destination partner: we prepare the export paperwork in Dubai, and clearance at the destination is handled by our partner there. Some countries ask you to apply for duty relief yourself — your coordinator tells you what to file and when.

Is my shipment insured in transit?

Transit insurance (all-risk cover) is available. Your coordinator explains the cover options when quoting, and the terms are confirmed in your quote.

How far ahead should I book?

Two to four weeks is comfortable for most international moves, but we regularly handle urgent relocations. The earlier you reach out, the more flexibility you have on dates and freight space.

Will I have one point of contact?

Yes — one coordinator in Dubai looks after your move from the survey to delivery and works with our destination partner, so you are never passed between companies.
