Nigeria is West Africa’s largest economy and one of the busiest relocation destinations on the continent. The UAE–Nigeria corridor is well established, with strong freight links into the Lagos port complex and direct air connections — but it is also a route where customs clearance demands experience and precise documentation. Getting that right, the first time, is what Seemleius delivers on the Dubai–Nigeria route.

This corridor carries a wide range of moves: Nigerian families returning home after years in the Gulf, professionals joining energy, banking and telecoms companies in Lagos and Abuja, and businesses expanding their West African operations. It is a corridor we know in detail — the sea routes into Lagos, the air links from DXB, and the practicalities of clearing goods through one of Africa’s most active customs environments.

Freight routes and customs

With the Strait of Hormuz closed to commercial shipping since February 2026, containers are trucked to a port outside the strait, such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the UAE’s east coast or Sohar in Oman, and sail from there to the Lagos port complex — Apapa and the Tin Can Island terminal — with Port Harcourt and Onne serving the south-east. Sea is the cost-effective choice for full household volumes, with routing and dates confirmed at the survey. Air freight from DXB flies into Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, suited to urgent shipments. Clearance is handled by the Nigeria Customs Service. Returning nationals and arriving residents may claim concessionary treatment on used personal effects, supported by a detailed inventory, passport and residence evidence — documentation we prepare and verify before departure.

Sea & air freight

Sea to the Lagos port complex or Onne — air DXB to Lagos or Abuja when the schedule is tight.

Nigeria customs handled

Nigeria Customs Service clearance, with used-personal-effects concession documentation prepared in advance.

Established corridor

A high-traffic route into West Africa’s largest economy, with onward delivery across the country’s major cities.

One coordinator

A single point of contact owns your move from the UAE survey to the Nigeria delivery — no gaps between vendors.

Who moves this route

This corridor serves the full spectrum of relocations. Household moves are the largest share — families returning to Nigeria or settling for the first time. Business and office moves bring records, equipment and workstations for companies establishing in Lagos and Abuja. Commercial freight covers project cargo for the energy sector, retail fit-outs and trade consignments. The routing and customs approach is built around what you are actually shipping.

Where we deliver

We move regularly to all of Nigeria’s major destinations:

  • Lagos — the commercial capital, financial hub and main freight gateway
  • Abuja — the federal capital and a centre for government and corporate moves
  • Port Harcourt — the oil-industry city and gateway to the south-east
  • Kano — the major commercial city of the north
  • Ibadan — a large inland city and academic centre near Lagos
  • Benin City — a historic regional capital in the south

How your move works

  1. Survey and quote. We assess volume and contents — in person in the UAE or by video — and return a clear, itemised quote with freight options explained.
  2. Document in advance. Dates are confirmed, space is booked, and Nigeria customs paperwork is prepared and verified before the shipment leaves the UAE.
  3. Pack and ship. Our crew packs to export standard, builds a full inventory, and dispatches by sea, or by air from DXB.
  4. Clear and deliver. Our destination partner handles customs clearance at the Nigerian port or airport and coordinates onward delivery, unpacking and reassembly at your address.

Every Nigeria move starts with an honest conversation about your goods and timeline. Request a quote and your coordinator will map the corridor with you.
