Senegal is one of West Africa’s most stable economies and a growing regional gateway, and a move from the UAE to Dakar reflects that — professionals joining regional offices, development-sector staff, returning Senegalese nationals and businesses opening West African operations. Seemleius runs the Dubai–Senegal corridor as a managed, well-connected route.

The corridor benefits from Dakar’s position as a major Atlantic port and air hub, which gives the route stronger connectivity than many African destinations. The move still rests on accurate paperwork and careful freight planning, and that is what we coordinate from the first survey onward.

Freight routes and customs

Sea freight now leaves from a port outside the Strait of Hormuz, which has been closed to commercial shipping since February 2026: the container is trucked to a port such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the UAE’s east coast, or Sohar in Oman, and routed via a transhipment hub — commonly a European port such as Algeciras or a regional hub — before arriving at the Port of Dakar, one of West Africa’s principal deep-water ports. Routing and dates for full-container household volumes are confirmed at the survey. Air freight leaves DXB and connects through a European or regional hub into Blaise Diagne International Airport, which serves Dakar, suitable for tighter timelines and smaller consignments.

Customs is administered by the Senegalese customs authority, the Direction Générale des Douanes. Returning residents and qualifying new arrivals may claim relief on used personal and household effects, subject to proof that goods were owned and used before the move. A detailed valued inventory, passport and visa or residence documentation are required, with paperwork prepared in French. We assemble the customs file in advance so clearance at the Port of Dakar proceeds cleanly.

Sea & air freight

Sea via a transhipment hub into the Port of Dakar — air through DXB into Blaise Diagne International when speed matters.

Customs handled

Direction Générale des Douanes relief on used goods, valued inventories and French-language documentation prepared in advance.

Regional gateway

Dakar’s deep-water port and air hub give the corridor strong connectivity, with onward road delivery across Senegal.

One coordinator

A single point of contact owns your move from the UAE survey to the Senegalese delivery, with no handover gaps.

Who moves this route

The corridor serves households relocating full homes to Dakar, individual professionals on regional postings with part-container or air shipments, and businesses moving office contents or commercial freight for West African operations. Every shipment, large or small, follows the same managed route with the same coordinator.

Where we deliver

We move regularly to Senegal’s major cities and their surrounding regions:

  • Dakar — the capital and economic centre, where most arrivals settle, including the Almadies and Plateau districts
  • Thiès — an inland regional city and transport hub east of Dakar
  • Saint-Louis — the historic northern city and former colonial capital
  • Touba — a major inland city and important religious centre
  • Ziguinchor — the principal city of the southern Casamance region

How your move works

  1. Survey and quote. We assess volume and contents — in person in the UAE or by video — and return a clear, itemised quote with freight options explained.
  2. Document in advance. Dates are confirmed, vessel or aircraft space is booked, and the customs file is prepared and checked before the shipment leaves the UAE.
  3. Pack and ship. Our crew packs to export standard, builds a full inventory, and dispatches by sea or through DXB.
  4. Clear and deliver. Our destination partner handles customs clearance at the Port of Dakar or Blaise Diagne and coordinates onward delivery and unpacking at your address.

Every Dubai–Senegal move starts with a clear conversation about volume, timing and budget. Request a quote and your coordinator will map the corridor for you.
