Customs clearance is handled by the Eritrean Customs Department. Imported personal effects require a detailed packing inventory, passport and visa or residency documentation, and a clear declaration of values. Returning Eritrean nationals may be eligible for relief on used household goods under transfer-of-residence provisions, but this is assessed case by case and rests entirely on accurate, consistent paperwork.
