Uganda sits at the heart of East Africa, a landlocked country reached through the ports of its coastal neighbours. Moving there from the UAE means combining an ocean voyage with a long inland haul — and getting that combination right is the core of the job. Seemleius plans the Dubai–Uganda corridor as a single coordinated route, so your shipment moves smoothly from your UAE home to a Kampala doorstep.
The UAE–Uganda route is a well-travelled one. It carries professionals joining East Africa’s growing commercial and NGO sectors, returning Ugandans, families settling in Kampala and Entebbe, and businesses establishing regional operations. The UAE’s strong air and trade links with Uganda make this a corridor we run regularly, and one where the practical detail — port choice, the inland route, customs paperwork — is well understood.
Freight routes & customs
Since the Strait of Hormuz closed to commercial shipping in February 2026, sea containers go by road to a port outside the strait, such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the UAE’s east coast or Sohar in Oman, and sail from there to Mombasa in Kenya, the principal gateway port for Uganda, with onward road or rail transport along the Northern Corridor to Kampala. The alternative port of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania serves the Central Corridor. Routing and dates depend on port handling and the inland leg, and are confirmed at the survey. Air freight from DXB flies into Entebbe International Airport, roughly five hours direct, and suits urgent or higher-value consignments.
Customs is administered by the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA). Returning residents and citizens may import used personal and household effects with relief from import duty, provided the goods have been owned and used abroad and are supported by a detailed packing inventory and passport evidence. Goods are processed under the East African Community customs framework. We prepare the declaration in advance and confirm the treatment before shipping.
Sea & air freight
Sea to Mombasa with inland haul to Kampala — air DXB to Entebbe for urgent consignments.
URA customs handled
Uganda Revenue Authority documentation and used-goods duty relief prepared accurately and in advance.
Inland corridor managed
The Mombasa–Kampala road and rail leg is arranged before the shipment leaves the UAE, as part of one coordinated route.
One coordinator
A single point of contact owns the move from the UAE survey to delivery, with no gaps between vendors.
Who moves this route
The corridor serves a broad mix. Household relocations are the largest share — families and individuals settling in Kampala and Entebbe for work, study or a return home. Business and office moves cover companies and NGOs setting up regional operations, shipping furniture, IT and records. Commercial freight supports trade and project cargo into Uganda’s growing economy. The routing through Mombasa and the inland corridor is common to all three.
Where we deliver
We move regularly to Uganda’s major cities and the regions around them:
- Kampala — the capital and commercial centre, the destination for most arriving households and businesses
- Entebbe — home to the international airport and a popular lakeside residential area
- Jinja — an industrial town on the Nile, a key manufacturing hub
- Mbarara — the largest city in western Uganda and a regional commercial centre
- Gulu — the main urban centre of northern Uganda
How your move works
- Survey and quote. We assess volume and contents in the UAE, in person or by video, and return a clear itemised quote with route options explained.
- Document in advance. Vessel space is booked, the inland leg is arranged, and URA customs paperwork is prepared before the shipment leaves the UAE.
- Pack and ship. Our crew packs to export standard, builds a full inventory, and dispatches by sea or by air from DXB.
- Clear and deliver. Our destination partner handles clearance at Mombasa and the Ugandan border, then coordinates inland delivery, unpacking and reassembly at your address.
An East African move benefits from a single coordinated plan. Tell us your dates and contents — request a quote and your coordinator will map the corridor for you.
