Freight routes & customs

Because the Strait of Hormuz has been closed to commercial shipping since February 2026, containers first travel by road to a port outside it, such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the UAE’s east coast or Sohar in Oman, then sail to the Port of Laem Chabang — Thailand’s main deep-water port serving the Bangkok region. Sea freight is the cost-effective choice for full household volumes, with routing and dates confirmed at the survey. Air freight from DXB into Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok is the faster option, often clearing within one to two weeks, and suits urgent or higher-value consignments. Customs is administered by the Thai Customs Department. People changing residence into Thailand may bring used household goods and personal effects in reasonable quantities free of duties and taxes, if they owned, possessed and used them abroad before the move; non-Thais show their residence status as Customs sets out, and Thai returnees show they lived abroad for at least a year. The goods must arrive between one month before and six months after your arrival, and only one of each electrical appliance is duty-free, or two for a family move. We prepare the duty-exemption paperwork with you before the shipment departs.

3. Pack and ship. Our crew packs to export standard, builds a complete inventory and sends the shipment by sea or by air from DXB.
4. Clear and deliver. Our destination partner handles Thai Customs clearance at the point of entry and the onward delivery, unpacking and reassembly at your address, with your coordinator in Dubai as your contact throughout.
