Commercial Cargo & Freight to Lithuania

Lithuania sits at a useful point on the European map — a Baltic member of the EU single market with one deep-water seaport and direct road corridors into Poland, Latvia and the wider continent. For UAE businesses shipping commercial cargo, that position is an advantage, but only when the import side is prepared properly. Cargo that arrives at the Port of Klaipėda incorrectly classified or with incomplete documentation is held until it is resolved, and that resolution costs time and money. The UAE–Lithuania freight corridor

We arrange and coordinate sea and air freight from the UAE into Lithuania for commercial stock, equipment, industrial goods, consolidated consignments and full containers. Sea freight into the Port of Klaipėda — Lithuania’s only seaport and one of the busiest cargo gateways on the eastern Baltic — now starts with a road leg to a port outside the Strait of Hormuz, such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the UAE’s east coast or Sohar in Oman, because the strait has been closed to commercial shipping since February 2026; routing, transhipment and dates are confirmed when we quote. Air freight from DXB into Vilnius (VNO) is the faster option for time-critical consignments, usually routed via a European hub. Because Lithuania is an EU point of entry, clearing cargo at Klaipėda or Vilnius clears the goods into the entire EU, simplifying onward distribution into Latvia, Estonia, Poland and the rest of the single market.

Lithuanian customs, EORI and import VAT

The Lithuanian Customs Department operates within the EU customs union, and every commercial importer needs an EORI — Economic Operators Registration and Identification — number registered before cargo can clear in its name. EU import declarations are submitted electronically, and the standard Lithuanian import VAT rate is applied on top of any duty; for VAT-registered businesses that import VAT is recoverable through the regular VAT return. As no EU–UAE trade agreement is in force, goods of UAE origin pay the standard EU duty rate.

For cargo destined onward into other EU countries, or for goods that need to move under suspension to a bonded warehouse, we use T1 (external transit) and T2 (internal transit) procedures so import VAT and duty are settled at the correct point in the chain. For temporary movements — exhibition stock, demonstration equipment, professional tools — an ATA carnet is often the cleanest mechanism, and we prepare and present it for clearance.

Why classification accuracy matters on this corridor

The HS code assigned to your cargo determines the duty rate, the VAT base and any applicable restrictions or licensing. A misclassification can result in delays at Klaipėda, back-duties, penalty interest and compliance complications that cost considerably more than getting the code right at the outset. We do not guess on classification; we confirm it before the shipment moves and document the reasoning so any subsequent customs query is answered straight from the file.

Bonded warehousing and staged clearance

1. Brief us. What is shipping, its HS classification if known, value, weight and dimensions, the Lithuanian consignee’s EORI, and when it needs to arrive.
2. Quote and route. You receive a clear quote with the freight mode, the planned routing, the customs treatment, the duty position for your cargo, and any T1/T2 or bonded options explained.
3. Document and book. Lithuanian customs documentation is prepared, the electronic declaration is built, origin and licensing evidence is collected, vessel or aircraft space is booked and the cargo collected.
4. Track to delivery. Your coordinator monitors the shipment through each handover, follows the Lithuanian customs clearance by our destination partner, and confirms delivery at the final destination — or onward into the EU under transit.
