With the Strait of Hormuz closed to commercial shipping since February 2026, containers reach the departure port by road — a port outside the strait, such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the UAE’s east coast or Sohar in Oman — and the sailing and dates are confirmed at the survey. From the port, onward road delivery reaches Tbilisi and inland cities. Air freight runs frequently and directly from Dubai International (DXB) to Tbilisi International Airport (TBS), suited to urgent or compact shipments.

Customs is handled by the Georgia Revenue Service. Georgia has streamlined its import procedures considerably, but imported personal effects still require a detailed inventory, passport and residence or visa documentation, and an accurate values declaration. Those relocating may be eligible for relief on used household goods under transfer-of-residence provisions, assessed on the supporting paperwork.
