France is a natural base for UAE businesses establishing or expanding a European presence — Paris in particular draws financial services, luxury, consulting and energy sector headquarters. The question a business always asks about a physical relocation is the same: how long will we be down? Seemleius corporate and office relocation to France is planned and sequenced around keeping that answer as short as possible.

A business move is not a large house move

The contents of an office and the contents of a house look similar on a truck, but they are managed very differently. IT infrastructure must be powered down correctly and brought back up in sequence. Commercial goods have a separate customs treatment to personal effects — declared commercially through the French Douane via the DELT'A platform, supported by an EORI number and ICS2 advance security data. Records and client files need a documented chain of custody. And the French office needs to be operational — not just physically present — from the day your team arrives. We approach every corporate move as a project, not a delivery job.

French commercial property: what the lease means for the move

Almost all serious French commercial space is leased on a bail commercial 3-6-9 — a nine-year lease with break options at the end of each three-year period. The practical implication for a relocation is that the destination office is usually already pinned down well before the moving date, but the source-side situation in the UAE can be more fluid. We work to both calendars at once. Most Paris and Lyon building managers will issue weekend works permits for move-in and move-out, but they need notice — typically a fortnight, sometimes a month for the bigger La Défense towers — and access conditions vary considerably between Haussmann period buildings (small lifts, narrow service stairs, tight loading bays) and modern Grade A space (proper loading docks, hours-restricted but predictable). Before the date is fixed, we survey the UAE premises and check the French building’s access conditions with our destination partner, and the access permit applications go into the project plan as a first-week task, not a final-week scramble.

Sequencing: decommissioning the UAE office

For most clients the trickier half of a France corporate move is not the arrival but the departure. Decommissioning the UAE premises — clearing IT, recovering deposits, handing back to the landlord in the agreed condition — runs on a fixed deadline tied to the existing lease. We aim to sequence the move so that the French office is operational before the UAE handback; that gives the team in France a settling-in window and gives the UAE side room to manage the close-out without a panic. Servers and core IT are the last items out of the UAE and the first items installed in France, so the gap on critical infrastructure is kept as short as possible.

Office furniture & equipment

Workstations, storage, presentation equipment and fit-out items — dismantled, packed to plan, shipped and reassembled to the new floor layout.

IT & sensitive systems

Powered down and handled with sequencing so systems come back up in the right order at the French end — servers and networking installed first, end-user devices second.

French commercial customs

Business goods import documentation prepared and accurate for the French Douane — DELT'A entries, ICS2 advance data, EORI on the company, and the right VAT treatment for inter-company asset transfers.

Move scheduling

Timed around your operational calendar to keep downtime low — weekend works permits arranged with the destination building, phased moves planned for larger floors, after-hours access in central Paris.

Corporate destinations in France

We relocate offices and operations across France’s main business centres:

  • Paris CBD and La Défense — the 8th arrondissement around the Champs-Élysées, the financial cluster from Opéra to Saint-Lazare, and La Défense as the high-rise corporate hub west of the city
  • Lyon-Confluence and Part-Dieu — the renewed business districts that attract life sciences, technology and regional European HQs
  • Sophia Antipolis — the tech corridor inland from Nice, home to research and engineering operations for businesses with a Mediterranean presence
  • Marseille Euromedéditerranée — logistics, trade and energy sector operations in the regenerated port-city district
  • Bordeaux — a growing base for technology, wine trade and creative industries

How a corporate move runs

  1. Survey and plan. We survey the UAE premises and, through our destination partner, check the French destination’s access conditions, lift dimensions, loading-dock hours and building restrictions, then build a sequenced plan.
  2. Define the window. The move is scheduled into the calendar slot that minimises operational disruption — confirmed dates, confirmed weekend works permits at both ends, building access agreed in writing.
  3. Execute and clear. Packing to the floor plan, shipment dispatch, and French customs documentation handled in parallel through the Douane’s DELT'A platform so the clearance does not delay the delivery.
  4. Set up and open. The French office is reassembled, IT comes back up in sequence, the floor is laid out, and the space is made ready for your team to start work.

From a small representative office in Paris to a full commercial floor in Lyon-Confluence, the priority is always the same: continuity. Talk to us about your France relocation and we will plan it around your business requirements.

Common questions about this move

How long does a move to France take?

It depends on the freight mode, the volume and the routing, which your coordinator confirms at the survey along with a realistic window — sea freight is the economical choice for a full household, air freight is faster for essentials.

Do you handle customs at both ends?

Yes, with our destination partner: we prepare the export paperwork in Dubai, and clearance at the destination is handled by our partner there. Some countries ask you to apply for duty relief yourself — your coordinator tells you what to file and when.

Is my shipment insured in transit?

Transit insurance (all-risk cover) is available. Your coordinator explains the cover options when quoting, and the terms are confirmed in your quote.

How far ahead should I book?

Two to four weeks is comfortable for most international moves, but we regularly handle urgent relocations. The earlier you reach out, the more flexibility you have on dates and freight space.

Will I have one point of contact?

Yes — one coordinator in Dubai looks after your move from the survey to delivery and works with our destination partner, so you are never passed between companies.
