The Netherlands punches well above its size as a European business destination. Amsterdam and The Hague host a disproportionate number of European headquarters and international organisations; Eindhoven’s Brainport has become the Continent’s most concentrated technology cluster; Rotterdam’s logistics infrastructure makes it a natural base for distribution-facing businesses. When a UAE business makes this move — opening an EU presence, scaling a subsidiary or shifting a regional headquarters — the physical relocation cannot be the part that introduces uncertainty into an otherwise well-planned expansion.

The logistics hub advantage

One thing that makes corporate relocation into the Netherlands particularly practical is the country’s position as Europe’s distribution spine. If your operation involves receiving goods from outside the EU, Rotterdam offers better options than almost any other EU entry point, and once cleared, the goods are in EU free circulation. If your European operation needs to distribute into multiple EU countries from a single base, the Dutch road and rail network — plus inland barge corridors up the Rhine into Germany — makes that straightforward. We factor this into the relocation planning conversation where it is relevant, because for some businesses the office move and the EU supply-chain setup are the same project.

Setting up the Dutch entity in parallel

Most UAE businesses arriving in the Netherlands incorporate as a besloten vennootschap (BV) — the Dutch private limited company — with registration through the Kamer van Koophandel (Chamber of Commerce) and an EORI number for any goods movement. Where the office relocation is tied to a new entity, we coordinate the shipment timing with the entity registration so that the BV is the importer of record for office furniture, IT and operating stock under its own Dutch tax and customs identifiers. This matters: importing on a personal name and transferring the assets later is messy, and Douane does not love it.

Office furniture & equipment

Workstations, storage, meeting-room equipment and fit-out items — dismantled, packed to plan, shipped via Rotterdam or Schiphol and reassembled to your Dutch floor plan.

IT & sensitive systems

Powered down with controlled decommissioning at the UAE end, sequenced shipping and delivery so systems come back up in the right order at the Netherlands end.

Dutch and EU commercial customs

Business goods import documentation prepared accurately — EORI registered, HS codes classified, 21% BTW handled correctly and separately from any personal-effects shipment.

Operational scheduling

The move timed around your business calendar to minimise downtime — weekend windows where Dutch building rules permit, phased moves, access confirmed in advance with the gemeente where street closures are needed.

Corporate destinations in the Netherlands

  • Amsterdam Zuidas — the financial district along the A10 ring; banks, asset managers, professional services and a heavy concentration of EU headquarters offices
  • The Hague — international organisations, government-adjacent businesses, embassies and the legal sector around the Peace Palace
  • Rotterdam — trade, logistics, energy, maritime engineering and the port-adjacent commercial operations that drive Dutch GDP
  • Eindhoven Brainport — semiconductor leader ASML, the High Tech Campus and a tight ecosystem of design, engineering and deep-tech firms
  • Utrecht — healthcare, life sciences, education and technology with a central Netherlands base ideal for nationwide reach

Practical Dutch quirks that affect the move

A few realities shape the schedule. Many Amsterdam buildings sit on canal-side streets where vehicle access is tight and a hoist (verhuislift) is needed to lift items through the front window — we book this in advance through our destination partner, who clears it with the gemeente where a permit applies. Sunday and public-holiday work is generally not permitted in residential or mixed buildings, and building management or house rules can restrict move-in hours. Eindhoven and the Zuidas are far more flexible. We survey the UAE premises, check the Dutch building with our destination partner and surface these constraints early rather than at the kerbside on move day.

How a corporate move runs

  1. Survey and plan. We survey the UAE premises, review the Dutch destination with our destination partner — access conditions, hoist requirements and any building rules — and build a sequenced move plan.
  2. Define the schedule. The move is timed around the window that costs the operation the least — dates confirmed, access confirmed, permits obtained where Dutch municipal rules require them.
  3. Pack, ship and clear. Our crew packs to the floor plan, the shipment moves by sea to Rotterdam through a port outside the Strait of Hormuz, or by air from DXB to Schiphol, and Dutch customs is handled in parallel under your BV’s EORI.
  4. Set up and open. The Dutch office is reassembled and laid out by our destination partner, ready for your team to move in.

From a representative office in Amsterdam to a full commercial floor in Eindhoven, the priority is continuity — not just delivery. Talk to us about your Netherlands relocation and we will plan it around your operation.

How long does a move to the Netherlands take?

It depends on the freight mode, the volume and the routing, which your coordinator confirms at the survey along with a realistic window — sea freight is the economical choice for a full household, air freight is faster for essentials.

Do you handle customs at both ends?

Yes, with our destination partner: we prepare the export paperwork in Dubai, and clearance at the destination is handled by our partner there. Some countries ask you to apply for duty relief yourself — your coordinator tells you what to file and when.

Is my shipment insured in transit?

Transit insurance (all-risk cover) is available. Your coordinator explains the cover options when quoting, and the terms are confirmed in your quote.

How far ahead should I book?

Two to four weeks is comfortable for most international moves, but we regularly handle urgent relocations. The earlier you reach out, the more flexibility you have on dates and freight space.

Will I have one point of contact?

Yes — one coordinator in Dubai looks after your move from the survey to delivery and works with our destination partner, so you are never passed between companies.
